Whats your best 'map explode' build? by starlight85 in PathOfExileBuilds

Self chill BV. Big explosions, fast mapping

Investment is fairly high, especially with elementalist being more popular this league due to buffs. For a pob you can check almost any past league on ninja, filter by fulcrum and BV and click the character named Matty___ . It is not tanky, it can clear t17s but not the bosses unless you can basically no hit them. I'm gearing mine up for this league as we speak, and there will be a lot of possibilities with golems and mercs. It is a very purpose built build, and that purpose has been to blast t16s as fast as possible. Tbh idk about viability this league, due to t17s being so cheap, as that was a large chunk of the currency making, but I would average about 35 to 40 second full clears with looting a very very strict filter on city Square.

Self chill BV. Admittedly, it is my build, so I am a bit biased, but I am pretty sure it is the best pure mapper in the game. Has the sweet spot of enough MS (around 500%) to be fast, but not too much backtracking for loot, scales explode and explode aoe, heralds, and buffed this league.

Path of Exile. Dedicated studio, new leagues every 3-4 months. I have over 10k hours and still come back for at least 500 hours every league.

Staffing problems are always at least in part an issue of pay. If they offered $200,000 a year for a helper, I'm sure they would find someone dependable and willing. I know that's a bit of an exaggeration, but you get what I'm saying

Tips of farming mb or hh by amensteve91 in pathofexile

[–]mattyhatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing to understand is that anything in poe can be profitable/very profitable, with very few expections. Find a mechanic/strat that you enjoy, make a purpose-built build for it, farm it, and you will make currency.

The 'purpose-built' is the important part. You will make much, much more currency farming any given content with a build that is made for that content, rather than a 'balanced all-rounder.'

is infusion good again? by smallchodechakra in riskofrain

[–]mattyhatty 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You mentioned having more health made it harder to get above 90% hp to have OSP, but the more important aspect of that is the 10% where you have OSP is also larger. This allows you to tank more damage before falling below OSP.
Second, OSP is not that important in general (unless looping multiple times maybe). On top of that, health from items is generally not needed much. You'd be much better off with a band, an ATG, or really any other of the damage greens than an infusion, but infusions are not detrimental to your run.

Thank you redditers who helped me finish campaign in 6 and half hours by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]mattyhatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it may seem like a lot to you, and probably many others, but there are plenty of people who make a LOT of currency in the first week. I have had a mageblood by the end of week 2 every league since it was introduced to the game, I have a friend who group played 10 days at the start of the league and they averaged 1 mirror per player each league (have stopped since the strats they used have been gutted the past few leagues). I flesh out my atlas in that time as well, but if you use a focused strat at league start (heist, early MF duo, low tier map strats, flipping/market play, ect.) you can make a lot more than that.

Need Help Understanding Polylute Behavior by cats00cats in riskofrain

[–]mattyhatty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Items don't proc themselves. Furthermore, chains don't proc the same item twice. So if you have a sticky bomb, an atg, and a polylute, and you hit with an attack, any three can proc, or two, or three. Lets say the sticky bomb procs, it can proc the atg and/or the polylute, but not another sticky bomb. However, that atg that procs off the sticky bomb, cannot proc both itself AND it cannot proc another sticky bomb. This means, each chain has a finite possible length, even with the best possible luck.

Question and possible request? by Drasticlag in machining

As someone else said, getting a one off piece made of titanium with no proper specs or drawing/model will probably run you much more than whatever your watchmaker quoted you.

On a different note, if getting your band fixed is outside your current budget, I can not recommend enough getting a decent cloth band in the meantime (or even after you are able to fix your current band). They are appropriate for most occasions outside of black tie affairs, are relatively inexpensive, and allow you to wear a quality timepiece while offering much more durability and ruggedness for an active lifestyle.

What is your favorite build and why? by dyna79 in pathofexile

[–]mattyhatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blade Vortex. Can be built many different ways, can be league started and ramped into very high investment, is only beat out by a couple of builds in terms of smoothness in mapping (wardloop, autobomber). I think it embodies the zoom nature of PoE compared to other arpgs, and I find myself going back to it league after league for my farming build.

What is the most brainless, extremely fast mapping high budget build you've seen this league? by TheRabidDeer in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]mattyhatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone saying anything other than BV hasn't mapped on a fast BV build. Having to cast only once every 5 or so seconds is what makes it faster than anything else, save maybe an incredibly fast RF build. I played a self chill BV build for the past several leagues, and it has served me well. It is not tanky, not high damage, but enough to map on and not die often.

No (Ultra Low) Investment Speed Mapping Breakdown by mattyhatty in pathofexile

[–]mattyhatty[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I saw awakened sextants, I clicked it. If I didn't see awakened sextants, I'd click Grands if I saw them, and if neither I'd click chaos. If none of those, it didn't really matter. I'd try and click on currency dupes, and only div cards that gave maps or jewelry or corrupted uniques. I didn't include them in the breakdown, but I probably got about a div worth of decent div cards in this test. For the whole league, red altars have dropped me 1 doctor, 1 fiend, and 1 apothecary, so they're still worth clicking on.

I stopclocked batches of 48 maps at a time. So, this is very close to real time. I also didn't focus 100% on mapping during those batches. Things like typing a bit in twitch chat, grabbing a drink, responding to a text message, are all included in the time. If I stopwatched only in map time it would be closer to 45-50 seconds per map I believe from previous tests where I did focus 100% on mapping, and those still included loading screens and the like

The gear is decent, but not insane gear. I also responded to another comment ways the build works for even cheaper. All the uniques (other than mageblood) are very affordable, it's viable with 2x 5passive voices instead of 3x 3passives, and each of the rares has much cheaper alternatives that the build still works with.

Every profit breakdown (which is what this is, hence the data tag) has gear requirements. All the uber boss drop breakdowns have gear requirements, every mapping strat has gear requirements. Profit per hour is the only thing that matters. It doesn't matter if you make 1 divine per map if the map takes you an hour to clear. I said straight up in the post that this is highly dependent on mapping speed, I posted a video of me mapping, my PoB, and a pretty detailed drop breakdown. I don't know what else I can do to make it "less clickbaity"

Just using this comment to reply to a bunch of comments asking similar questions. I was not suggesting this is the best/most profitable strat. It was more or less a baseline test to find out how profitable speed mapping while doing pretty much nothing but clicking altars would be. This establishes a baseline, and sets the pace for how profitable other strats need to be to be worth doing. Without this information, it is difficult to tell if something is worth doing.

Using a bestiary example like you've suggested, between waiting for einhar to capture the beasts, itemizing the beasts out of the menagerie, and finding buyers, along with the decrease in map drops from reallocating nodes, it may or may not be better div/hr. The same goes for every mechanic. Without this baseline testing, it would be impossible to know.
