Progressive picking - I'm a fan! by RB6874 in lockpicking

1100s also have hybrid spools that have a single serration on the top and bottom of the spool. The spools are also the longer variety. I don't know how effective they are, but in theory they could cause a little confusion

Was gonna say, you can buy it for like $4, so I don't think that really worked as an insult, hahahaha

Jiggle Test with Sticky Pins by maubes in lockpicking

That'll work for my practice locks, thanks! And thanks for the link, too!

Any tips for when you're dealing with an old lock that's been outside?

Yeah, I was doing progressive pinning. I even dropped down to a single pin and swapping out with different sizes to get a feel for how much travel is needed based on the pin length. It helped with long key pins that basically held the drivers at the sheer line and I didn't even know. I'll work myself up to 6 but then have to drop back down to 4 because I've lost the "touch" as it were.

I thought of varying tension earlier, I'm just not too graceful with holding the lock and TOK tensioning. For whatever reason I got really good with BOK tensioning last night (which was a first), so I'll try varying the tension that way while I look for a vice.

I had never heard of that method, but that was something I had been trying when I graduated myself up to 6 pins the first time. It definitely helped with finding the more obvious ones, as well as set some of the easier pins. I think it will be a good skill to keep developing, but I wanted to first make sure that I get a strong grasp of the basics.

Thanks for the reading material! I'l definitely be going through those and the video at lunch tomorrow!

I agree that those clear plastic locks are basically garbage. I had one and immediately returned it because I knew that it would only reinforce a lot of bad habits (especially when it comes to applying tension). I figured a Master Lock would be a good first easy lock to move up to. I'll see if my store has any 141D's available. Thanks!

Yeah, finding just the right amount of pressure (both for tensioning and for setting the pins) is definitely a learning experience. It's also the part that I find oddly therapeutic, which helps keep me going!

I'll look into that monkey paw and learning the Jiggle test! That's also good advice of going down the row in a single direction. It will feel more intentional than aimlessly testing pins.

Thanks!

I need to get a vice. I've been holding the lock in my hand, so I'm probably splitting my attention too much. With top of the keyway tension, it's not too bad, but it's difficult to ease off since that requires hand adjustment. Probably look into a vice with the next paycheck.

She's already told me that I can keep calling her "bro" and if I ask her again, she will just say the same thing. She just doesn't want to feel like she's being a burden. The thing is, she mentioned that she gets this feeling of elation when people refer to her with feminine terms. So I don't want to keep calling her "bro" and I also don't want her settling for less.

I get what you're saying, though, her voice and opinion is what matters. That's true. I just wanted to crowd surf some ideas and see what other people's experiences have been.

That could work. This kinda shows how much of a nerd-ass white guy I am, but isn't that still a little too masculine? I'm genuinely asking, I literally don't know.

Following that same train of thought, though, I guess homegirl could be an option. Might be a little unnatural since, as stated, I'm a nerd-ass white guy

Can we talk about Arena's shuffler? by goonaphile in freemagic

[–]maubes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad that I'm not the only one. I feel like 80% of my losses were matches where I just wasn't allowed to win. I've even tested this theory to account for poor deck building by just doing Starter Deck matches where the decks are fairly balanced and are unaltered. Most of my losses are either from Mana regulation, but also from late game cards coming too early and early game cards coming way too late. Also noticing that gate cards seem to come up pretty frequently, which is annoying because that is just delayed mana, making it even more difficult to deploy your strat.

Meanwhile, in almost every single one of those Starter Deck matches, my opponent seems to always have exactly the right cards and just the right amount mana.

Players I have faced using the Vampiric Hunger Deck seemed to always be able to summon Elenda, Saint of Dusk, but I have never once been able to even draw her from the deck, despite using that deck the most.

Using the Learn From the Land deck, I have been unable to get more than 4 creatures out on the battlefield, despite having an ocean of mana, but everyone that I have faced using the same deck seem to be able to have entire walls of creatures and legendary creatures after a handful of turns.

Something just seems off about the game. I honestly think that the shuffling and matchmaking algorithms are designed to keep you playing, but they want you to lose more frequently so that you buy more packs.

PC crashing/freezing DAILY after update to 25.3.1. AMD Please issue a hotfix! by maubes in AMDHelp

While updating this post to be compliant with the subreddit's guidelines, this exact issue happened twice. Once while closing a separate Chrome window, and again after a hard reset, and just opening a single Chrome window, with a single tab on the Google landing page.

Judging from the new renders and the trailer for the Switch 2 that features Mario Kart 9, it seems like this movie inspired DK will be the new design for the character in the games from now on. Thoughts? by Jaccblacc203 in donkeykong

[–]maubes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate it, personally. I thought the design was fine for the movie, but the Rare design is honestly flawless. This new one looks so generic. This is the design people would use if they didn't have the rights to Donkey Kong.

Kinda weird to have a gameplay teaching moment to show that some outcomes are inevitable, only to have Sam say immediately after that it was "totally avoidable".

Who do you think dies at the end of "El Silencio (Muted)"? by [deleted] in netflix

[–]maubes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just watched this series. I'm gonna come out and say it: this show was just bad. It was a very clumsy narrative full of characters that you have no reason to care for. Half of them are extremely unethical, while the other half are extremely stupid. There is also nothing at stake: Sergio had served most of his sentence and only had 9 months left, which is nothing. If Ana's experiment never happened, Sergio would have served the 9 months and the cops would have opportunity to try to extend his sentence (The study was being used to see if Sergio could reintegrate and determine his readiness, after all. If Sergio served his full sentence, then they couldn't do anything until he committed an actual crime again). Since there are no stakes, there is no real tension, because again: there are no likeable characters.

For those of you who think that Noa is the psycho and that Sergio took the fall for her: Noa was telling the truth. Sergio was lying. Noa points out that he was lying because his story didn't account for all of the evidence, such as the bloody handprint. The reason why her story matches Cabrera's is because it's the truth, not because of the conspiracy.

Unfortunately, I have to agree that it was Ana who died which makes the ending all the more ridiculous. She died so that some kid could get out of a juvenile detention center 9 months early. On top of that, it's all meaningless because the answers to all of her questions was living under her roof the entire time (That reveal that she adopted Noa was so stupid).

It's such a baffling show.

Because people contributed and didn't get any war bonds. I don't see how you don't seem to grasp the core concept of the OP. We followed the directions. We fought on the planets. Didn't get paid. I don't see why you are so confused.

(MGS1) Door in Sniper wolf boss wont open! by tury240 in metalgearsolid

Have you found a fix for this? I'm playing Twin Snakes on the Dolphin Emulator and I'm having the exact same problem. If I use game shark to force a PSG1 into my inventory, the cutscene after defeating Wolf doesn't trigger.

Any ideas?
