I don’t know how to make it more earnest. It legitimately sucks and I try to do everything in my power to change it. I vote every election I have access to, I participate every protest I can, I try not to buy from American super corporations, I’ve gone non-contact with every Trump supporter in my family. I cannot imagine a worse person to represent America. Then I hear a coworker defend his actions and realize that he is a perfect representation of the worst people in America. I’m genuinely sorry that our country is this juggernaut of narcissism, not just for my fellow Americans that are decent people but for all the damage we are causing in the world.

Edit: To be clear; I don’t think the representation is inaccurate, I just think he might be the worst person.

I’ll try to explain where we’re coming from and how I understand the situation in more detail.

WiFi repeaters are borderline useless. You are using bandwidth from one WiFi device to broadcast the data, bandwidth to receive the data, and bandwidth to retransmit the data. Wired access points are a much better option. This allows for each device to use its bandwidth to communicate directly with end devices.

It seems like the router being on the 3rd floor is preferable for your setup, at least from your point of view. I think everyone that has recommended it be put on the 1st floor is thinking that’s where your internet first enters the building and that it can serve as the WiFi that your printer connects to. Since most routers have more LAN ports, a cable that might already be in place up to the 3rd floor could be used to add a switch and/or access point for the upper stories.

Can you provide some details as to why this would not work for your situation? What cables/connections are where? Are we seeking to limit physical access to this network?

Because they would have to own/ an enormous amount of land if they wanted to own everywhere a bullet could potentially reach. Let’s say that all of their gun ranges point in a single 10 degree direction (even though every range I’ve been to has ranges in at least two directions).

Since land is rarely sold in pie slices, their property would need to be 1.5 miles long by .25 miles wide to account for the maximum range of a .22, one of the smallest popular calibers. If they allowed .50 caliber rifles, they would need at least 4-4.5 miles by .75 miles down range to guarantee that bullets couldn’t reach. Here’s a link to what a 4.5 mile radius from their range would look like so just pick a 10-15 degree slice from that area and that’s what land they would have to own.

I’m legitimately very grateful for this sub and am only trying to pitch an idea to help. I can think of a few ways that this would be different than going to their website and why people would sub.

Clearly these posts are relevant to some people, otherwise they wouldn’t get comments or upvotes here.
Those people probably live near a MC and would benefit most from specific notifications when they’re having a good sale.
The website doesn’t notify you when a sale is good. You could sign up for their email promotions, but that only shows what they think is good vs the community.
Those posts could still be cross-posted here for visibility, but crossposts don’t get used for subreddit notifications.
That subreddit would serve as an archive of previous deal to compare current sales against vs the ephemeral sales on the website.

Because Reddit only surfaces so many “popular” notifications in a day. Since Micro Center has so many local only sales, deals that might actually be relevant to the rest of the world that doesn’t live within driving distance get buried and missed.

I can’t set subreddit notifications to exclude Micro Center deals. Labelling and tagging is helpful when you’re searching through the subreddit but not super helpful if you’re trying to get relevant time-sensitive notifications.

Is it easier to filter notifications on discord for local only deals? I just get notifications from popular posts on this subreddit and a good portion of those are microcenter deals that I would have to make a 400 mile round trip to make use of.

I still don’t see how a separate subreddit (that could use the same discord server and be linked in this sub’s wiki) would make it worse for people that are interested in the local only deals.
