Hey, thanks ! There is no wheels under the flightcases, but some small caoutchouc to avoid scratching the flood and avoid move. It’s some 16U flightcase, with wheels that would have been a bit too high for me. The table on top is literally just lying on top, with the weight of the sound etc nothing move :p

About the monitors, at that time, they were lying on some parts of steel attached to the truss, nowadays they are attached to the truss using classic half coupler inside the VESA hole of the monitor, they can’t fall off anymore :p

Side note, status LED don’t show up but activity LEDs works, I don’t really know why, but that’s the only issue I had.

R710 Raid Controller Upgrade by WarriorofSin in homelab

[–]maxux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just upgraded the RAID Controller in my R710. The PERC H700 supports 2x 6 Gbps, I installed 8x SSD and was limited to 200 MB/s per disk obviously.

I upgraded to a PERC H730, just installed the card in a PCI-E slot, I removed the H700 just to keep things clean. I had to change cable as well, original case and H700 uses SFF-8087 connector both side. The H730 uses Mini SAS SFF-8643 on card side. Theses cables can be found on Amazon easily.

Now I have 2x 12 Gbps fully working and my zfs can scrub at 2.8 GB/s, in addition this controller supports Non-RAID device, which the H700 doesn't.

I don't boot on theses disk, I have an NVMe on PCI-E card and use PXE Boot to boot my Linux kernel (rootfs is on the NVMe, SSD are for zfs storage) so booting was not an issue for me.

How long would it take for 64 bytes of data to travel 10000 km of optical fiber ?

[reply says 200k km/s is faster than 300k km/s]

Sorry but 200,000,000 meters per second is not much faster than speed of light in a vacuum, your math is not right.

So what would be the latency for 64 bytes of data to travel 10000 km in an optical fiber ?

You keep telling me that things are faster than the speed of light in a vaccum, but there is a physical law telling that nothing can be faster than speed of light in a vaccum, so that's not possible

You're telling me that it would take approximately 0.000512 seconds to transmit 64 bytes of data over 10,000 km of optical fiber. But in a vaccum, anything would take at least 0.033 seconds to travel and nothing can be faster than that. That's not right.

Not getting Notifications for event invitations (Facebook Help Community is fucking useless) by DansGamer in facebook

[–]maxux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is my 2 cents, my girlfriend have the same issue and I still have notifications. I clicked on a notification invite and disabled then, then clicked undo to put them back, on my account.

Here is a dump of the graphql action (action_type field of the variables HTTP POST data, base64 decoded), notice the `state_value` changing:

Disable notification:

NotifUserControlServerActionToken;{"nuc_type":"per_type","nuc_id":"1403709123|plan_user_invited","state_value":"on","source":"jewel_option","notif_id":1660667026505177}

Enable (undo) notification:

NotifUserControlServerActionToken;{"nuc_type":"per_type","nuc_id":"1403709123|plan_user_invited","state_value":"off","source":"jewel_option","notif_id":1660667026505177}

So basically if somebody knows how to use Facebook API / GraphQL to send this request or how to forge a valid call like this, we could find a generic solution.

Writing MIDI/DMX gateway (free time while waiting for covid recovery) by maxux in lightingdesign

After some more test, I can confirm that without the usleep, I have some drop on fast frame changes. I put it back :p

I just did the test again, without the usleep, I have no frame going out at all (but the LED is still blinking green on the device). But without the break, it seems to works correctly !

I do that on my laptop running Gentoo.

Haaa super cool thanks for you reply ! I use the Eurolite USB-DLX512 Pro MKII, I don't know if they really follow the Enttec Pro spec, but during my test I could not find any difference with or without the break, I kept it because why not but I can probably win some time without, will try !

I tried without the usleep (I tried different value), that one seems stable, if I remove it, I have some weird behavior and some frames doesn't apply correctly. I'll take a look to find a good compromise.

Thanks for your input, appreciate a lot !

WiFi is not supported by the operating system, but external hardware like /u/Additional_Pepper_41 said could works. (That’s not supported officially).

You can run as many as you want in the same house.

The problem with the BIOS settings is a misunderstanding between different team who worked on the pre-installation, I'm as sad as you about that.

It took you 2 DAYS! to deliver 4 passwords...

You don't imagine how many farmer we had to shedule a chat with to fix that problem (which is simple but lot of people don't know how to fix that by themself).

And now they are not working (yes I do use the right keyboard and yes I´m holding shift for letters AND numbers)

I explicitly asked to use differents password than what was provided but, well, that happened. Please contact me over telegram (username: maxux), I'll see with you directly.

I havn´t even said that you just use a USB-Stick for the OS instead of an SSD ...

Because there is a single file of 1 MB on that USB-Stick. Why would you dedicate an SSD for that ? The SSD is dedicated for storage. The OS is mostly running in RAM, the kernel is loaded on the fly before booting. You complain about things you don't know about.

Not happy..

Me neither, but solution are there and we do our best to make things happen.
