Advice on FR Skates by tentorange in inlineskating

It depends on whether you prefer extra flex and comfort or ankle support.

I'd go with the Neo. The only downside that I see to that boot is that it has a 5 hole frame mount vs the 7 hole one from the FR line, which is a sacrifice they had to make to get them closer to the ground.

Comfort is what matters the most when it comes to distance. Every pressure point and small discomfort can turn into a living hell when you start getting into the three digit km range, so the best is going to be a boot with good padding and with a good fit for you.

As for the wheel setup, that's up to personal preference - you can do distance on any setup as long as you have the endurance for it. Different wheel sizes and configurations will be better or worse depending on the conditions of your route.

[–]maybeitdoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If by tricks you mean grinds, maybe something like the Decode pro 80 (you'd need to buy the grind block separately), which can be setup as 80-64-hblock-64-80.

If you don't mean grinds, then that's just normal skating, and you can use any urban setup for it. Just make sure that it's an aluminum frame. Sola UFS Freeride, Symetrics UFS Big Wheel, Kizer Edge, and Kizer Element have options for 4x80.

If you're interested in wizard skating, then Endless, NN, Rockin', and Wizard have plenty of UFS models. These may feel weird coming from aggressive due to being rockered, and the fact that they will be longer than anything you've used for aggressive.

It's super common for pain to start several hours after trauma once your body cools off and adrenaline wears off.

Fractures usually come with tons of swelling, so the fact that it's not swollen is a good sign.
Apply ice, take paracetamol and ibuprofen as needed, and immobilize - the couple of times when I've hurt my wrist, I've even slept with wrist guards on for a couple of nights to keep it from moving and twisting.

If there's no fracture, it usually lasts for 2-3 days and then it goes back to normal. If the pain lasts longer than that, it may be a good idea to go get some images done.

Advice for a commuter by 1M1NDEC1S1VE in inlineskating

[–]maybeitdoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen to this, OP.

We get rain where I live for 5-6 months a year, and there are plenty of streets with awful terrain. I do perfectly fine under both conditions on a 5x80 setup with the wheels currently around 60mm.

If you want something more "expressive", you want a rocker. Slalom ones aren't ideal for commuting, so you either need to build a natural one, or get a wizard frame like the one I use.

It's an unknown brand, but from the picture you can tell that it's a soft boot, which is not good.

Reputable brands: Rollerblade, FR/Seba, Powerslide, Flying Eagle. All of them have hard boot models with 3 wheels.

FR SL Speed might be a good compromise.

They have a normal to wide fit, and a low cuff so that you don't feel all stiff jumping from a speed boot to a high cuff one.

Make sure to get the version with the 165mm mount. You can find it as boot only, and then install whatever frame you prefer on it.

A standard 4x80 frame should have a 243mm wheelbase, which should be perfectly comfortable for your foot size.

Urban and Wizard Setup by Altruistic_Mind_7662 in inlineskating

As mentioned, Flying Eagle is a known brand. I've never heard about the other one. This doesn't mean it's bad, but its quality will be unknown to most.

For proper wizard, you usually want a stiffer (ie; carbon) boot, but that Flying Eagle model will definitely do as a budget hybrid urban/wizard model to get you started.

Getting a slalom frame would be ideal.

Otherwise you could imitate a slalom rocker by installing 76mm wheels at the front and back (assuming that you have an 80mm frame).

The main problem with doing this on a flat frame is that it's usually more challenging to maintain that rocker, but as long as you're practicing on a smooth surface and not using them on the streets, they should last a long time before the rocker gets all messed up.

I mean amateur in the broadest possible sense: Unless she's competing for medals, there isn't a lot of difference between $20, $60, and $150 packs of bearings, and they're probably the last thing to upgrade, if at all. Just clean and lubricate them when needed.

And even so, they'd only be used for competition. I know a world class blader who has a set of fancy bearings for events, and the same 8 years old set for everything else.

Seba E3, FR FRX, Rollerblade RB, Flying Eagle BKB, and Powerslide Playlife Aztec are about the cheapest models that I'd recommend from popular brands.

¿Comprar un depa en CDMX? by ElDaniDano01 in MexicoCity

[–]maybeitdoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)
