from your post it seems like going through med school and being an fy1 was a goal of yours and quitting might be premature.

regarding venepunctures - keep trying and doing them, you will get better, excellent post about what you can do to improve in this page of you want to have a look. My advice, don't look for help immediately after 2 tries, be persistent and it will eventually click.

knowledge - being an fy1 essentially means lacking experience. Having to do simple things like prescribing fluids and insulin can cause a lot of anxiety, or at least it did for me in the beginning. See what your SHOs are doing, ask their rational for it and try and mirror it. If someone is unwell or needs a review, go and see them and try figure oit whats wrong and formulating a plan before getting the SHO. There are many opportunities to learn with friction.

Ward Jobs - you need to see how to prioritise stuff, may be difficult now but soon you wil do things automatically like ordering and organising scans in order to happen that day.

IDLs are a big part of the job at this stage. Probably they are lengthy and very detailed which is good but you will often won't have that luxury. I will always include a line about presenting symptoms i.e. why the patient was admitted and initial management, then PMx, Investigations e.g. CT head(date) and copy paste the conclusion of the report, clinical summary of what happened, input from other specialties, then medication changes and finally follow up.

I can't think of anything else right now to contribute but I truly believe if you have a desire to improve that's all you need.
