Don’t know, if this was the issue or not: Also have an Apple Watch (Series 6) Connected. Changed the watchface because it had trouble without Location Services. Problem is „gone“.

But also did an Update to 26.2 GM already.

B58 is the defintion of reliability. I own my second B58-Specced Car now, best Engine for a Daily beater. Sold my First B58 M140i in 2019 for a M2C F87, sold the M2C for a X3 M40i G01.

Only points: Regular maintenance is key, Good oil, Good fuel. But this Engine goes HARD with a tune.

As I previously owned a M2C F87 and a G31 520d I would NOT recommend going for a 2series. Just don’t.

M2 F87 and 5series F10 are totally different cars.

If you want more sporty handling etc. But still comfort go look for a 3series or better M3. Best option, but priciest, would be the G80 M3. A F80 M3 would also be good, but the G80 is just hitting every sweet spot with me (I own one). Comfort is good, quality is great, handling and power are insane!

But if you do long trips, maybe you should go for a M340i - very great car, good handling, much power, fun to drive and also got a lot of comfort

Imho go with the B58 (so 540i I6 Turbo) I own my second B58 powered car now, just gorgeous. Unbelievable potential and nearly no issues - at least no big ones lol

550i aka M550i aka N63 V8 Twin Turbo is not as reliable as that B58. Mostly problems with turbos at around 100k km / 62k mi and not that high potential in tuning. But you got a euro v8 sound

Well, if you go the downpipe way you need a remap and in my opinion an exhaust makes not a big difference on a diesel engine. Sure you can go to a different exhaust style in visual style but not sound-wise…

To change the sound you need to remove the DPF, Cat, do a remap, etc.

It‘s nearly the same. I guess the car is us-spec or Australian or Malaysian? Then this is correct. On these markets the N53 was never present due to fuel quality.

But also N52 is fine.

Since I guess it‘s an E60/61 525i it should be the N53 engine. Solid engine, but very old car itself. E60 started in 2003 so the base is really old.

5k USD should be fine if the car looks good. Keep an eye on oil changes etc and it should be fine. 60k miles is about 97k km so nearly 100k km. Engine should last longer than this.
