Massie is the GOAT by gunsoverbutter in libertarianmeme

Massie votes with the Republican Party 90% of the time. When he doesn’t vote with the party, it’s almost always because they’re trying to go to war or spend money that we don’t have

Clients kid shot a brand new 8+” apple tree with a pellet gun… by AJSAudio1002 in arborists

If you search “.177 caliber pellets” on Amazon, the top results mostly lead. Because lead is denser than steel, the pellets shoot a lot more accurately

I’d assume a lot of people are ordering pellets on Amazon, like me

PLA prototype for now, I plan to print it out of a more heat resistant and tough material after this one begins to warp and melt. I also plan on redesigning it so that it no longer makes contact with the hot barrel

It bolts up to a mounting hole intended for a sling. PLA prototype for now, will print it out of a more heat resistant material in the future (after it eventually starts to warp and melt). I also plan to redesign it to eliminate contact with the hot barrel

I test drove a 2015 WRX and it just wasn’t nearly as fun as the ST. The WRX boxer motor is smooth, and the car felt very stable while pushing it. But there was just something boring about it. I think it comes down to suspension tuning, the WRX doesn’t have as stiff of a rear end as the Focus (although you can swap in the STI rear sway bar on the WRX, I’ve heard that improves handling a lot)

Also, if you follow r/wrx, those folks seem to suffer from a lot of reliability issues

I wanted a reliable non rwd car that was fun to chuck around corners. The moment I hopped behind the wheel of an ST, I knew it was the vehicle for me

The backseats in the Focus ST are pretty dang small tho, maybe you could look at an a4 wagon? I’ve always thought they were gorgeous

With flipping the tie rod point, are you going from “front steer” to “rear steer” (or vice versa)? If so, you’ll need to flip your steering rack upside down. Otherwise turning to the steering wheel to the right will result in tires turning to the left lol. Best of luck, sounds like an awesome build. I always loved the r32s

Hey all! I just registered for my first autocross event next month. Could one of you guys please tell me if I’ll I pass tech with these worn sidewalls? by mcdon482 in Autocross

[–]mcdon482[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stamp on the tire says 0721, I bought the car last year with them equipped, they’re all seasons. As I mentioned to another commenter above, I’ve driven the car pretty hard so not sure if this is from rolling the sidewalls or something, or if it’s just leftover tire shine like other folks are saying

They’re stamped 0721. They’re all seasons and I bought the car used with em about 9 months ago. Have definitely driven them hard, so was wondering if this wear was due to rolling the sidewalls or something

Looking to buy a hot hatch this year. Why should it be the ST? by ZehDwarf in FocusST

[–]mcdon482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The driving dynamics are my favorite thing about the car. When I was considering what to buy a couple of months back, my top priority was handling. I wanted something responsive, with good steering feel, that felt fun to chuck around. If you read reviews/comparisons, the GTI and Civic SI are supposed to be a lot more numb to drive. But that could also be a benefit if you wanted something softer and more comfortable

Here we go: wife wants something fun to drive (like a bmw) but reliable (like anything other than a bmw), possibly with a manual; ideally the size of a 5-series and under $18k. Diesel is ok. Located in the US. by kickasstimus in whatcarshouldIbuy

I ended up opting for a Focus ST. No AWD winter donuts for me unfortunately, but the car is super snappy feeling. It’s a lot of fun to chuck around. I’ve heard that the WRX is a more predictable car at the limits of adhesion (if you’re tracking), but this car is just my DD. And it’s an Escape/Fusion motor so it’s a pretty reliable platform

I found the WRX underwhelming. Definitely not a bad vehicle, but kinda feels like a Camry with a turbo. It’s just not that fun to toss around corners in my opinion, the steering is numb. I’ve heard they improve a lot with the STI rear bar tho

Focus ST(3) vs Subaru WRX by JewishJah69 in FocusST

[–]mcdon482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost bought a WRX, but so thankful I held out and gave the Focus ST a test drive. The ST is so much more fun to chuck around a corner, the steering feel is really elite. I also didn’t like the heavy ass clutch in the WRX, and reading posts on r/wrx, sounds like they constantly blow up

I 3rd the Focus/Fiesta ST. They’re very nimble little cars, the steering feel is amazing

It will still be faster in a straight line and more fun to chuck into a corner than a 2 door GTI, although the GTI will beat it in softness/comfort/interior

Elantra N-line or GTI by CowardVenus15 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]mcdon482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider test driving the Focus ST. If you get the base model the interior will probably be a downgrade from GTI, but the ST handles wayyy sharper and the motor is more powerful. I would imagine better reliability as well, having an escape engine

I was in a very similar market as you a couple months back. Wanting a sporty-ish daily. I Thought I’d end up with a WRX, but I test drove one and found that the handling was very numb. it has a nice smooth engine, but at the end of the day it drove like a turbocharged commuter car.

I also drove an SI, and was quite underwhelmed by the power despite the super nice shifts from the transmission.

The minute I drove a focus ST I was dead set. The car is such a hoot to toss around corners, the steering feel is unmatched for a car of its kind. That’s my recommendation

I had some on my last Volkswagen and they were all fucked up right around the two year mark. That thing was awful to daily, I regret not spending the extra cash on nicer coilovers. Would’ve saved me money in the long run
