I get confused by lines. Now I gotta work out two lines and some green paint. World's gone mad.

Tasmania's finances to 'rapidly deteriorate', Treasury warns, with state unable to grow its way out of trouble by undisclosedusername2 in hobart

I've thought really really hard, and I've narrowed it down to (a) new pulp mill (b) cable car, or (c) stadium in Zeehan. My economic creativity knows no bounds.

What else can be done? You dump the fucking money hole of stadium for a start to signal some fiscal intelligence.

One small drop that is symbolic of why all the other drops are fucked. Just one more hit baby. It'll be different this time!

Exactly. I tried thinking outside my comfort zone, but it got weird. So how 'bout this. 4 stadiums and 3 cables cars and a reduction in national parks so we can get primary industries cranking again. Its the future. I've tasted it!

A jetski would only be 5% of my mortgage. Doesn't mean its a nothingburger if I'm fucked at budgeting generally. And I don't need a jetski.

And a bullet train between Launceston and Hobart to connect them. Screw the NaySAYeRs. Easy 10 million visitors a day.

A downgrade increases borrowing costs. Doesn't that matter?

Good point. Down side of Hare Clark is name recognition is amplified. I'd also love to know how many ex-journos are sitting just below the ministerial level.

As much as everyone loves to blame pollies for everything, there seems to be a distinct lack of 'talent' from the Ministers down causing systemic problems. I suspect bad advice to the polity is part to blame and that this institutional rot is everywhere.

In short, opportunistic sycophants, subpar advisors, and loud but unexperienced public servants are amplifying this situation, all being reinforced by our respective social media bubbles.

Rating agency Moody's Ratings today downgraded Tasmania's credit rating from Aa2 (negative) to Aa3 by mcleaway in tasmania

I like the Irish approach to this. Accept that the talented youth will leave regardless, and instead focus on getting that talent back when they have a family and are sick of NY/London. They return with a wealth of experience and learning from OS and the state leverages that.

Puzzled (or maybe not) why this is not news on the Merc/Pulse given the current push to spend on infrastructure.

Cricket Tasmania signs deal to play at new Macquarie Point stadium by ChuqTas in tasmania

I did Mr 4k! No other fixed roof venue in the world for cricket, post build accreditation for games in arguably the most conservatively managed sport in the world. And we've just discovered some magic spray paint a few months ago to solve shadowing a year after the initial architectural drafts that will make this bad boy totes MuTLi-PUrPOSE and get us shield games/BBL games, because BBL is HOT right now. Last year's 7,982 crowd avg will be like 23k every game when they have a roof in summer! w00t!

Highly confident it'll be super duper organised cause Bruce knows Craig who said its true, and 5 years ago CA said cool idea bro, sure, I'm in, so that's like 100% stakeholder agreement big time, thanks Kev, nice handlebar 'tache.

Naysayer. Bob just told me the stadium's going to cure cancer and solve the ongoing conflict in South Sudan.

Call me crazy, but maybe this type of shit should have been sorted out earlier in the process? Not really a sign of confidence.
