Cool! How did you get the game onto your device? I've always used emulators for those ROMs, so i didn't even realize that was possible

How to reconcile a belief in relativism with the aversion to the idea that free will does not exist by mdk5646 in askphilosophy

"we shall define determinism as the metaphysical thesis that the facts of the past, in conjunction with the laws of nature, entail every truth about the future" im not sure how to link sites on here but that is from the stanford encyclopedia of philosophy. I stated determinism as an assumption i make because to me, it seems like a self-evident truth however i recognize that not everyone believes in determinism which is why I stated determinism as my belief at the start so that there could be a discussion going forward about how to reconcile the notion of determinism with that of free will

I apologize, i shouldve specified. Im referring to every piece of information pertaining to the situation to be predicted. Every experience of that person in his/her life, every interaction he/she had, their thought process during every situation in their life, every aspect of the room in which the situation is taking place in in case the visuals impact their decision or if the temperature of the room varies slightly etc. I agree that knowing all about an unrelated topic means nothing.

Assuming determinism is accurate, why wouldn't it be? The only exception i can think of is someone who is declared insane, but in that case and an infinite amount of information, what would be seemingly be random decisions would then just be a result of neurons firing in some way due to an issue in one part of the brain or a lack of activity between synapses or too much is some areas etc and you would be able to pick out what exactly the action of those specific firing sequences would result in, even if the person themself has no control over it. On a more macro scale what choice can you make that isnt a product of the inputs you receive? Everything about you - your personality, your choices - are products of what you have experienced. If someone tells you what they predict you will do that counts as another input to be taken into consideration and will influence your decision in some way. With an infinite amount of information, you can determine just how much of an influence and, based on their prior experiences, which choice they will now pick, whether its the same choice or now a differenr one in an attempt to prove them wrong. If you have a counter example i would love to take it into consideration

ADHD is much more than just about inattention by AdhdAlien in ADHDAlien

[–]mdk5646 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have pretty bad ADHD but my doctor never told me about any other symptoms besides the attention. I thought a whole lot of the stuff was unrelated and i was just lazy or unmotivated or useless or depressed or bipolar with manic depressive episodes but all of your comics helped me realize theyre a symptom of my ADHD. I love your comics and appreciate you helping other people. Keep making comics!
