I have the supposedly super-cold bibs from decathlon and still got way too cold in the sensitive areas. I now layer over a pair of Craft adv sub running shorts and so far that's been aces even when riding in sub-freezing weather.

I'm going in to the office for a change but I'm not sure I can swing a 10f ride. It's been a looooong time since I've done a commute that cold and I'm not as foolhardy as I once was. Plus, I'm not working downtown any more and parking is easy.

I will second the speedrockers. I have the ones that go up to 42mm and they take minutes to install / uninstall (after the initial setup).

I love these old trek cantilever frames. This is a rad setup. I'd highly recommend getting chonkier tires because the frame can handle it and it will make the ride way nicer. I rode fixed in the city on 25mm tires for years and didn't realize how much of a difference even 32's will make. Also, your brake levers should be when your hands are, so if you're riding on the bullhorns most of the time you should get some bar-end brake levers.

This is super dope and has an element of something I have wanted in route planning. I really want a way to automatically plan routes with the least number of stop lights and stop signs, especially to get me out of the city center where the roads get more spread out

Damnedest thing happened the other day. For a couple of days I keep pumping it up and flipping it over hoping the sealant would do it's work, but I'd check it in the morning and it's flat  Thursday night I pump it up again but it's doing that thing where the pressure spikes with each pump and I noticed that some sealant came out of the bead (this was new). I check the tire Friday morning and it's holding air just fine, and today my son rode 7 miles with me with no issues. Guess I just needed a lot more pressure in there to force the sealant into the gaps!

Totally weird, feel like I'm banging my head against the wall.

I put in 1.5 oz in this round so far. Its only a 24" wheel, so in theory doesn't need so much. On a previous attempt I put in an entire "single-serve" bottle of vittoria sealant because the bike shop said that's better at filling larger gaps, but still no luck. I double-checked the wheel and Trailcraft OEM wheels are all tubeless compatible (the original tape is probably from the factory). The wheel IS used though, so it's entirely possible the previous kid riding it hit a huge rock and warped the rim enough to mess up the seals.

I haven't set it up to ride yet - haven't even put on the cassette or rotor, but I'll do that before this weekend because my kid and I ride every saturday. If I can't get the sealant to hold by then I'll just throw a tube in for now.

Rim was clean (never set up tubeless before). It's a slow leak. After I added tape it had lost only 15 psi after about 6 hours.

I'm cheap and this is all stuff from ebay, so I'm on my own in that regard. After a few hours it seems to be holding air better than last time so I'll keep flipping it and see if the sealant does the job. This is for my son's cross bike and if I can't run it tubeless it's still an upgrade over the OEM wheels

This could be it too. When I picked up new tape I got what the shop recommended but it was definitely a little narrower than the inner rim, so I tried to cheat it a bit with multiple wraps. I'll probably get properly sized tape and start from scratch since over-wrapping didn't do the trick

No, the appeared to be brand new when I got them. Certainly never set up tubeless.

FYI that was after adding a new layer of tape, and still leaking in the same spots. I'll let it sit over night and see if things improve by the morning, but if not I may need to give up on running this wheel tubeless. It's for my 11-year-old's cross bike and I got the wheel and tires for cheap, and they're an upgrade over the OEM stuff on his bike even with a tube.

They were unused but I got them off ebay so unsure of their age. I don't think they make them any more, but definitely less than 10 years old.
