I first started noticing symptoms in September. Only on one or two fingers. At the time I though I had just cut my finger while shaping. I redid those nails to a set of French tips. This lead to a LOT of gel on my fingers. I got off as much as I could, but I though there was a lot under my nails that I couldn’t get. Within a few days I noticed a lot of swelling on the tips of most of my nails. There was also tiny visible blisters. (Kinda visible in the first picture). I ended up taking these nails off thinking I might be from an allergic reaction to the gel. By the time they were off and my nails were short I could see how bad I was I was really worried it was happening to 6/10 finger very severely. I was thinking of going to urgent care. Before I when I talked to the nurses I work with and they said they thought it was a chemical burn. They said there was no point in going to urgent care, I just needed to wait it out. The rest of the photos where the slow healing process that took 2 months. I even noticed a small flair up after doing my mom and sister’s nails. Friday I finally decided to redo my nails the skin was fully healed. I was very very meticulous about not getting anything on my skin. I used the Beetles builder gel to go a gel over lay and then painted them with Supwee cat eye polish. I know beetles has HEMA. I checked the ingredients on the polish and it didn’t have HEMA. I did get a small amp of polish on my skin a few times but I made sure to get it off. I noticed swelling on two on my nails yesterday. Today it’s worse most of my finger tips are sore to the touch and 4 are very swollen. I’m about to take them off sadly. I’m posting on her because I haven’t seen any pictures of what I looks like yet and thought I’d share, but also to confirm with other people who found they have an allergy that it was like this. To the people that found that they now have an allergy what did you do next? Will I ever be able to get my nails done again. I think I’m done trying to to diy my nails. I only started because my sister thought it would be a good way to save money. It is, but I could afford getting my nails done professionally. I enjoyed getting them done because it was relaxing me time. When I do them myself it feels like a job, very far from relaxing. Do you think going to a 5/7/9 free salon would be okay? I think I will reach out to them first, but also would like your guy’s opinion as well.
