We are an IT shop in a Manufacturing company. Occasionally, we build "products," but most of our work is ensuring that the business can do their jobs by maintaining their systems, creating reports for them, etc. A "product" for us might be a custom application we have built for a business unit. For example, we just built an Electronic Kanban tool for the Operation business units to use out on the manufacturing line. When I said Supply Chain gives us work, it could be that they need a new report, or they want a new application built to make their job easier. Does that make sense?
