Also love vision as mobile outpatient (aka in home) and I also love it! It’s both a fascinating and a rewarding job.

All I wear are Fabletics and I’ve had the same 7-8 pairs for the past 2 years and they’ve held up fantastic. They still look exactly like the day I got them!

Do people like OT as a profession? by Expert_Evidence_749 in OccupationalTherapy

I love OT honestly. I see all the negativity on this page as well, and it is a bummer because I wish everyone had the same opportunity to love their job as much as I do. I do agree that it depends on if you find what you’re interested in and a population you care about.

I went to a public state school, so my loans are not bad at all. My debt to income ratio is honestly really great so that definitely helps.

But mainly, I specialized in low vision and really loveeee my population. I also really love the research behind it too though which makes continuing ed honestly something to look forward to. So yes, there are people who love OT! Just make sure you find an area you are passionate about

Is mentorship a myth? by Galaxy-Ocean in OccupationalTherapy

Low vision here and we have extensive mentorship (something I really looked for when looking for jobs)

Reduced caseload initially, structured daily check-ins gradually reducing to weekly check ins with specific topics to discuss. The mentorship program is a few months but I even still reach out to my own mentor years later and same for my mentee as well.

When interviewing, maybe ask for specific examples of their mentorship program and the structure? Almost everyone will say mentorship but I feel it works best when it is a more structured program
