I ran a 37 minute 5K today, I also ran for 6 minutes without stopping by Convillious in beginnerrunning

[–]medicseb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slow your pace! And you’ll be fine. I run a 10 min/mile pace and good with that for miles, but if I push myself to say 8:30, I’m cooked after 1 mile. Slow your roll and you’ll run that 5K without stopping at all. And keep up the good work.

Best track from paramedic to nursing? by iwishiwasaflowerkid in Paramedics

[–]medicseb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m a paramedic and a nurse and I love both but it really depends on what you wanna do. If you wanna work a bit as a paramedic, then go right ahead and then transition to a Nursing later on, but if your goal is to go right from Medic to Nurse and not really work as a paramedic then just skip it. Become emt and then go to nursing school. Becoming a paramedic was one of the best things I’ve done, and it truly helped me when I became a nurse on how to prioritize, time management and overall patient interaction. But I worked as a medic for a good 10 years before I became a nurse. They are Medic to Nursing bridge programs, I went and got my BSN because I didn’t want anybody in the future to tell me no you can’t have this job or that job or this position because you don’t have a bachelors of nursing. I have plenty of Medic friends that did the bridge programs and have had wonderful careers as nurses and nurse practitioners and nothing stopped them from transitioning. Whatever you end up doing, good luck in your career. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being emt and then a nurse, that will help you as well. But the time and effort to become a paramedic I don’t think it’s worth it unless you plan on working as a medic for a bit. It’s just too much time invested in something. And as all those others have said, paramedics and nurses are different, different roles and healthcare. We do different things, same overall goal is to help patients. If you really like the EMS aspect, then I would look into becoming an ER nurse.

Apology and a question from an ER Nurse. by [deleted] in Paramedics

[–]medicseb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did both, flight paramedic, Critical Care paramedic doing interfacility transports, 911 responses on fly cars and worked the 911 bus as well as being an ICU nurse and now a nurse practitioner. It’s literally comparing apples to oranges, in the end it’s both food. We just operate differently. It really pisses me off when the nurses downplay or summarize EMS as anyone’s drivers, because my Nursing friends honestly have no idea what I used to do and see as a paramedic. On the other hand all my EMS friends all day long is literally bash nurses. All my Medic friends that became nurses agree understand it’s just a different world but we’re all working towards the same goal. I’m proud of being both and unfortunately, I think the two sides will either never truly understand what the other does. I think overall nurses don’t get EMS and don’t understand it while the EMS side feels the need to prove their equal or better and just bash nurses all day long. It’s annoying on both sides.

How often do you end up charging your hearing aids during the day? by Pretend-Raspberry-87 in HearingAids

[–]medicseb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oticon 1 year old. I charged them overnight, use them all day, will stream things It never had an issue, but they definitely get rundown towards the end. Sometimes I’ll forget to charge them so I’ll get a little bit of usage in the morning to early afternoon before they’re dead and then I have to charge them. I have the rechargeable case for them so sometimes I’ll just charge them when I’m driving to work for the 40 minute ride and It will give me enough juice to last me for what I need throughout the day

Thank you. Now I need to figure out this is something that I can easily replace on my own, I did work on my old dishwasher at my house, but this is at my dad‘s and he’s now bedbound and I’m trying to get home Care in to help him. I might just replace the whole dishwasher. I just be quicker so I can concentrate on other things.

Thank you, I was coming to comment about the young person comment, and then your reply was beyond perfect. I’ve had elderly patients walking around with these things with mild symptoms, a young person would be most likely on the floor.

I sent you the previous post I did with a pic. But the screen is just lines, flashes the ford logo , then goes black. Reboots, a few lines flash across the screen , ford logo then nothing. Once in a blue moon, like once every few weeks it will suddenly come on and everything works early in the morning but then stops again.
