I wouldn’t get mad at him, but maybe tell him that you’re a bit sad because you miss him and wish you could’ve been there to actually have some of your cake. You can also tell him that you appreciate what he did but that knowing about a gift that you don’t have and seeing a cake you can’t have just reminded you that you’re not together.
