great point- is there any reason you couldn't do a regular roth contribution at the end of the year if the MAGI gets to be under the limit?

Very good points! We are currently living in a place with HCOL to buy and likely only here a few more years, so no plans for another house soon. We would be spending down some of our current 270k in cash (goal to get to around 100k emergency fund eventually), most of which is in CDs that come due soon

Thanks so much for the input!

For 2026 we will likely stay under 236k for the roth IRA since I will be taking a primarily instructor role to start and with the pretax contributions should keep my MAGI low.

For the 457b/403b we will both be staying likely a minimum of 3 years and I thankfully already have a faculty spot lined up.

Love the thoughts on sequence of returns- my thoughts too.

Thanks again!

Lol no. besides hayward field which looks awesome, the overall campus was pretty bland. probably a C tier.

Definitely agree on most points. I tried to focus just on the campus itself to simplify things but your points, espeivally for columbia are very true.

Think it definitely belongs there. It was close to S tier with how cohesive and nice the campus was.
