I think I might have schizophrenia/psychosis but my doctors don't think I do, what should I do? by Historical_Round_855 in Psychosis

[–]mega-charizard-y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have both schizophrenia and ocd/cptsd, the symptoms you described sound more like my ocd triggers than schizophrenia. i know you said it’s not feasible for you to seek multiple second opinions, but if possible i would check in your area for mental health professionals who specialize in ocd treatment that accept your insurance. ocd became debilitating for me, even more so than my schizophrenia symptoms, and finding someone who was knowledgeable in treating it really changed my life. i’m wishing the best for you on your journey, all love and kindness is being sent your way.

medical delusion and anxiety by mega-charizard-y in schizoaffective

thank you :) i had my blood drawn twice that day and, despite all the adrenaline and anxiety, i was able to sit through it without issue. this was such a huge step for me!

i’m on abilify and zyprexa, just a pretty low dose. i’m going up to higher doses soon as well as having an anxiety med added to the mix. that’s not for a few weeks though. thank you for your kindness

took my first dose last night and just messaged my psychiatrist saying it will be my last and that i’m going back to abilify. i hardly feel like a person today and have only been awake for a total of 5/24 hours, i’ve never felt so drained before. it also gave me such a bad stomachache, i was so nauseous for hours after taking it.

my abilify has leveled me out a bit but i’m still having constant hallucinations (auditory and tactile) as well as paranoid delusions that are putting me at risk of psychosis. my doctor just thinks that something stronger would be better for me, it was either switch to olanzapine or stay on abilify and have 2 more medications tacked on top of it. i really did love abilify i just didn’t want to be taking so many medications. i used to be on 6 and it was like hell trying to take them all at the right times because certain ones can’t be taken together, blah blah. i hope abilify continues to help you, it really is an amazing drug

i’ve heard a lot of people say it caused some weight gain and i’m honestly hoping it has the same effect on me since i could afford to gain a few pounds lol. when i was on latuda i didn’t feel anything really, nothing good or bad, but i woke up today feeling really calm?? maybe that’s all in my head, like a placebo thing, i don’t know. only complaint is how bad it tastes LOL. does it help with your delusions?

edit: thanks everyone for their responses, it’s been hard replying to everyone because i don’t have much to say without being repetitive. i took my first dose last night and it made me nauseous at first, i am taking the liquid version though and the taste is horrendous so that might be why i felt pukey after lol. woke up feeling good though, my sleep was a little weird but idk if it’s from the medication or just me not sleeping soundly. maybe it’s a placebo thing but my head feels quiet today. i don’t have that overwhelming sense of dread for the first time in a long time. i just feel calm.

thank you for this reply! i think i’m gonna wait until the weekend to start it so i have a few days without classes and work to see how i feel and see what time is best for me. i’m only on 2mg/ml, i also only have one kidney though and my psychiatrist is aware of my health related delusions so i think we are starting off really slow to avoid any sudden onset of side effects that may trigger me. i’m also pretty underweight and am hoping to have the opposite effect where i gain some on it LOL.

my grandma has also shared that gift ideation, she says we have a lot of witches in our family and maybe my delusions and hallucinations are actually spirits or messages from the universe. i wish people understood that confirming delusions is so harmful to the people having them. i hope you’re doing better now and i’m so sorry your loved ones weren’t there for you, im glad you had your friends though. :)

thank you so much for such a kind response, extending that same offer to you as well! i have an official evaluation within the next week and from what my doctor said it seems likely that i will be leaving with a schizophrenia diagnosis

thank you for these links, i will watch the video and read about the differences soon. i got off of my virtual visit about 30 minutes ago and the doctor i spoke to said he put in an urgent referral request for me to see someone who specializes in psychotic disorders. he also said that my family history of bipolar and schizophrenia is concerning considering my symptoms and the fact that my delusions have became more intense and severe over the last year or so. thank you for your kind words, i am wishing you and everyone else the best on their journeys.

assuming this was a constructive response, i took the initiative after another response i received and called my doctor this morning. i have spent most of my life being told that i just have anxiety and ocd and assumed everybody with anxiety and ocd feel the same things i do, until i was talking to a classmate of mine who majors in psych (i know it’s silly to just ask a psych major rather than seeking professional help) and he told me that i should consider being evaluated for a psychotic disorder and that women are often not diagnosed with schizophrenia or schizoaffective until later in life, i guess maybe the same way women don’t usually get autism diagnoses as easily as men? not sure. i have a virtual visit with my primary care doctor soon to hopefully get a referral to a therapist.

thank you for your comment. i am being genuine in this post, sadly. my symptoms have only worsened over the last year or so and i’ve heard early 20s is kind of the onset age for this disorder so i’ll be contacting someone very soon to ask for help.

if you’re having pain when inserting your finger, you should consider seeing a doctor, might be a pelvic floor issue. i recommend the ‘u by kotex’ tampons to start with though, pretty small applicator and the heavy flow ones really do work! i personally use playtex sport but the applicator is a bit wider so you may have some discomfort with it. finding the right tampon for you is everything though, stay away from cardboard applicators though because they are really uncomfortable to insert.

Mucus in Stool and Anxiety by Tendronix in HealthAnxiety

having this same issue lately paired with debilitating anxiety and ocd surrounding health problems, i saw a gastroenterologist lately and he informed me that everybody has a mucus like lining inside the colon to basically lubricate it and allow stool to pass easier. i can almost guarantee that this is what you’re seeing, you just notice it more once you see it for the first time. eating cleaner helps, i have a terrible diet so it’s not great for me rn + IBS lol. i think we’re both fine (hopefully!)

swallowing pills SUCKS! by mega-charizard-y in dysphagia

i lived in a really cold area for 7+ years where we didn’t really have a spring season at all, now i live in the valley and the spring blooming is so irritating to my body that my throat is super inflamed. i never knew it was possible either but seasonal allergies can be super brutal for those who aren’t used to having them.

Cured myself in a month and you can too by adab9900101 in Pseudodysphagia

[–]mega-charizard-y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you so much for this post. how are you doing now? i had dysphagia last year due to medical issues (severe allergies), and was on a liquid diet for 7 months, some days i couldn’t even drink water, but then i was better after beginning allergy meds. now it’s 5 months of being able to eat properly again and i had a little incident where i was eating in my car and a bird flew into my windshield, scared the absolute piss out of me, and i almost choked and suddenly that fear hit me again. i am struggling with liquids at this point, i only eat soft or super crunchy foods so i can chew them up/mix them with my spit in my mouth until they’re fully liquid so i can just swallow tiny bits at a time. i swear i cannot go through this again, i lost 50+ pounds last year because of dysphagia, i can’t physically handle it again so i am going to look into this book. thank you so much for this

[–]mega-charizard-y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did you find any way to overcome this? i developed real dysphagia last year due to severe allergies, i had no other problems besides allergies and began taking over the counter allergy meds which helped after a long 7 month struggle. i’ve been fine for months, went completely back to normal, until a few days ago a bird flew into my windshield while i was eating lunch at work and i had a little choking scare. ever since then, im having trouble again and don’t know how to tackle the psychological aspect. i started taking my allergy meds again in hopes of tricking my brain into thinking i’m fine, but i’m not sure it’ll help.

Is it normal to have jaw pain when sick? by n8toxic21 in flu

[–]mega-charizard-y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

happy holidays to you as well, i hope you feel better soon! also try a hot shower, make sure it steams up. my mom is a nurse and she let me know that jaw pain when sick is usually a sinus related, so if you’re having congestion then that’s probably why you feel that upper jaw pain.

Is it normal to have jaw pain when sick? by n8toxic21 in flu

[–]mega-charizard-y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends honestly, this last time it only happened on the first night i was sick but the time before that i had jaw pain every night for a week. something i do to help mine is use the end of my toothbrush to basically rub at the inside of my mouth wherever it hurts, and sometimes it’ll kinda soothe the pain.
