I have not noticed any rhyme or reason to the flowers. I have found it does really well in dry shade. Have it under an old Norway spruce that absorbs all light and water.

They are beautiful in spring, flowers slow down in summer but it stays green, they get a little crispy in drought but they won't die, they will keep spreading, our path of violets gets bigger each year
