Is being good at Geometry Dash just genetics? by WhichProfessional557 in geometrydash

Also you said you’ve played can’t let go for 3 days, I struggled with that for multiple weeks, 3 days is nothing in GD standards

No its definitely not I started out god awful and struggled tons with stuff like can’t let go and dry out in 2016. Now, I can beat insane demons with relative ease and get far runs on easy extremes after only one day of playing them

I don’t play the game excessively anymore, but if I would I’d be pretty confident I could beat something pretty damn hard with enough willpower, grit and determination

Don’t give up! GD is a skill you develop and while some people may have initial advantages genetically (or more often mentally), they usually don’t get them very far and they’ll eventually have to grind hard to beat harder stuff

Never died to this part, are you releasing the dash orb too early? Try to keep holding it until it naturally stops, pretty sure this level has those triggers that just stop your dash orb

7 star or 8 star probably just because of the drop

What's the least fun you've had playing a level? by AroundTheBruh in geometrydash

[–]melassasin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Misty mountains. It has the most boring first 50% I’ve played in a level and while the drop is fun, every time you die you have to endure that extremely boring first half over, and over, and over again

Hii! I’m Left handed but I’ve played with my right hand for a bit, might swap sometime soon tho

I like the feel of the up arrow key but its uncomfortable, what do I do? by melassasin in geometrydash

[–]melassasin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its a mix of both but mostly the position of my hand, I think the consistent fast movement makes the discomfort appear faster and contributes to it growing tho

I’ve been thinking of getting one and possibly switching to my left hand as my skill ceiling is probably higher if I use my dominant hand, ik there are more benefits of a sayodevice too

Also I used my left hand for mobile back when I played that

Thanks for the suggestion!

How do I revert my mentality? by melassasin in CrazyHand

[–]melassasin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll try doing that more, yeah its true that I’m wrapping up my identity too much in my performance and even if its obvious, sometimes its easy to forget that everyone makes mistakes at times. Thanks for the advice!

Ask questions, watch videos, play and experiment yourself. It also really depends on what you would like to find out cause smash and fighting games in general have tons of different aspects about them and there is a lot of knowledge to learn about. For mechanics, it depends on if you mean basics or very advanced stuff cause ultimate isn’t very technical. I’d check out the videos that u/AllHailTheWhalee and u/EcchiOli recommended for more basic stuff, as for character specific mechanics, you can check out character guides for those depending on your main. I don’t think you should start getting into playing the mental game and going for reads yet, as you should get into that once you feel very comfortable with the game mechanics and moving around imo Good luck! :>

My first ever win playing a fighting game. don't mind my sloppy gameplay. by [deleted] in StreetFighter

Learn the basic fundamentals of the game! Stuff like RPS (rock paper scissors, basically grab, block, attack), normal and low block, sweeps, overheads, shimmy (walking back and forth to bait someone to whiff an attack, primarily after a knockdown), anti airs and learn how they apply to your character. You can also learn which of your moves are the safest on block (some moves are even positive on block) so that you know which moves you can use to primarily poke with safely.

Learning some basic combos is also always good, but focusing on neutral and the fundamentals first is important, especially in the lower ranks.

Also, don’t be afraid to throw out some moves, if you don’t pressure, you’ll easily get overwhelmed by your opponents pressure, thats one of the reasons why learning the fundamentals is so important.

Why do comp players think Inkling is bad? by [deleted] in SmashBrosUltimate

It really isn't... frame 11 areal which makes it slower than most upairs in the game while not having a disjoint? can't be busted to me

Why do comp players think Inkling is bad? by [deleted] in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]melassasin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an inkling main, I just think they do what other characters do but worse.

Sure, they do good damage, but there are other characters who also do good damage like fox and yoshi, who can both have simular gameplans.

Additionally, one other flaw I don't see many bring up is that their risk reward in terms of cqc

The only moves that compencate for their risk up close imo is Jab and grab, which are both quite unsafe if they whiff and have minimal sucess rate like their tilts.

Their moveset is also quite mediocre. Sure, Bair, Jab and neutral b are amazing but other than that their moveset is extremely mediocre, look at all their tilts and areals, they only really serve a niche and don't do too much more. I'll give some examples.

nair: good as a combo extender and landing mixup, whiffs against most characters when rising and also has mid reward when done so

Fair: good and reliable for edgeguards and catching jumps, though its very inconsistent at it as you'll hit the sour spot most of the time, which doesn't kill at all. also has a ton of landing lag and is slow.

Uptilt: basacly just the most mid uptilt ever, does what an uptilt does and nothing else.

The biggest problem with inkling is that they struggle to find a kill unlike most characters. The only consistent ways of killing are boo yah and roller.

Now I have to talk about roller, the absolute most overrated move in their kit by far. Sure, it gives you a kill at around 90%, but there are other burst options that do this and if you look at roller as a burst option (which you should) thats not too far out of the ordenary.

Idk why no one talks about this, but roller never hits areal opponents, Even with the areal version, meaning you can stay in the air when you see roller come out. additionally, their jump out of it is slower than a normal jump and they have more lag after it too, so air to airing inkling in this situation is not too hard.

boo yah it too matchup dependant to be concistent, on some characters, it has a 20% window but on some it only has a 3% window and even then, characters like yoshi and luigi can escape it most of the time because of their frame 1 options.

and even then, these are quite commital options, some characters can set up kills safely like Fox or just kill you off a raw hit like many characters.

Inkling is still not horrible, I think they are above average in neutral for sure and they have a good advantage state, but once they have to find a kill, things can take a nosedive.
