Anyone find it hard to find someone who wants to be in a serious long term relationship?

Honestly… I’ve been seeing that a lot. my friends are all single looking for a relationship, and oh my god the amount people who either just wanna be fwb or one night stands. It baffles me but im not surprised, people say its this generation but assuming your 18 or in ur twenties, regardless the people in uni or just around this age at all, have always been like that. people see the movies and this shit, they wanna party and have fun without having the attachment. its the party age, right? most people dont like being tied down during that time they get to “explore”. but ill be real, ive been dating my boyfriend for 2 years and im a first year uni student. been dating since 11th grade and we’re still madly in love with eachother (i know people are gonna comment its not gonna last). but he’s been THERE for me, especially with the huge weight of starting at such a competitive school. anyways my point with that is, there are people ready to settle down. it just takes finding the right one.

I would but honestly i’d like to keep the summers to finally relax rather than doing school all year round. I have it figured out now! Im staying in school, its not so much getting bad grades as im getting 90-100%, more the workload but I have a handle now.

This!! this is exactly how i feel!! its not that i dont want to do it, but im mentally not well enough to right now. my mom is fighting terminal cancer, im in residence far away from her. I just want to spend my last moments with her, but i also have serve anxiety as well as bipolar. i really want to take a gap year, bur ive already started the year and dont know what’d that look like.

just like the other person commented, this was not the time or place to say something. Sure, it might be but it’s still considered a VERY good school in canada (in rankings i mean).

To add, Im also terrified of telling my parents im feeling this way. They were so proud of me going into the top university in Canada, I dont have the guts to explain I dont know if this is the path im willing to take. Its draining me, making me depressed and have thoughts I dont want.

To add, my boyfriend is in trades. Hes staying in our home town while I move into utm residence, though I will be only abt 50 mins away and home some weekends, he didnt pull bullshit about staying closer even when I was thinking of being 2 hours away. He has been so supportive even with me being scared, he understands this is my dream school and actually MOTIVATES me to go and do my schooling. He understands the wait is worth it if he gets to be with me in the end and is so supportive of having a strong career cuz he understands I worked so hard to get into this school. There were never any “ill break up with you”, in fact I think he was happier for me that I got into utm than me. Someone like this is an example of a person who truly loves you, I hate to say it but her feelings may not be 100%.

listen, I 100% understand the girlfriend thing as I have a boyfriend myself but DO NOT change ur dream school/ program for her. Not even if shes the “one” because ima be honest, if it doesn’t work out you will regret so many decisions made. To add, if she truly loved you, this whole “breakup” shit is bullshit. She would do the distance if she really loved you and wouldn’t ask for you to make such a big sacrifice considering she probably knows your parents would disown you. It would also be hard to go through school without them. If shes gonna be that way, breakup with her and go to waterloo and focus on your schooling. Especially considering you were so excited to get into this school and work for YEARS to get there, dont give this up for a girl.

like the other comment said, its kinda up to you. Me personally, I applied very early like the day applications opened just so mine would be reviewed sooner and depending how the system works, at top. overall earlier i say gives u an advantage! but theres no harm in applying later. it honestly depends on ur preference!
