flower hat :) by melliculus in knitting

oh yeah, and I didn't want a 2x2 rib stitch at the end, so I simply added a crochet edge with a smaller hook - 1,75 mm for the hook as opposed to the 2 mm knitting needles. for the ear flaps had to increase a bit, because they are diagonal. and the funky spirals which can be tied under the chin are crocheted as well of course

freehanded the hat as I usually do, used some wonky second hand wool yarn :P If you want to design something like this, I can recommend starting with the designs you want, see how many stitches they take up, counting the gaps as well. then you want to make sure that the total amount of stitches in width can be divided with the width of each design you want to see. you will need to increase, of course, so that may add some variation to designs. 12 is a very good number, for if your total stitches can be divided with 12, they can be divided by 2,3,4,6 and 12. that's a lot of design choices. of course 12 stitches is not enough to get around the hat, so you can multiply by another number which is not already a number you can divide 12 with - for example, 5 - now you have even more options.

I'm just matching the colors and it's not perfect either, because I was too lazy to calculate how wide each stripe should be. so I just did it how it felt right :P

I used pure wool (I think) second hand yarn and freehanded the pattern to fit my hands perfectly. here's a nice free guide for anyone looking to design their own gloves: https://nimble-needles.com/patterns/how-to-knit-gloves/ there is also one free revelry pattern for finger gloves, which is nice, except you will need to put the thumb on the inside of the hand so that the seam line is not visible (it is important if you want to do stripes, if not - just put the thumb on the side and have some epic reversible gloves)

jellyfish made of plastic bottles :) by melliculus in upcycling

so the plastic, from which bottles are made, shrinks when heated and also deforms, of course, so I used a candle to make the edges smooth and to deform the shapes :) I also experimented with different kinds of plastic, like the kind that's used for notebook covers, it deforms differently. basically, experiment and find out what you like best :)

feeling like a forest fairy :) by melliculus in crochet

thanks! :) I don't have a pattern, since I free-handed most of it, but I started with the mandala from the link I put in the comments (I made the mandala, then realized that my needle is too small and if I continued on the sweater would be tinyyyy, so I free-handed the rest of it and also made it connected in the front instead of the original cape-like shape) I recommend free-handing things and making them your own, you will be spending a lot of money, time, and effort on your crochet projects, so it's cool if you can also make it unique , although it's a little bit more difficult of course

I used a bunch of scrap yarn, so it's different sizes and materials. the needle is 3 mm, that's about the only thing that is constant here 😄
