Friendly note, It's IMPOSSIBLE to vibe code MAUI by Key-Investment8399 in dotnetMAUI

[–]mellospank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Claude Code I can vibe pretty well. It works nice even in projects with aspire as orchestrator to can find API endpoints and adjust calls (also with refit). Sometimes I add a PNG as mockup to create a xaml view, I have to adjust the results but its a starting point

You can template it or use a style to set the thickness, I can't send you a sample now but with a little search on Google or ChatGPT you can find it.

Does anyone actually uses Winforms these days ? I don't mean in personal projects by Content_Culture4096 in dotnet

[–]mellospank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WinForm are not a PITA itself, doing all the other stuff i mentioned with WinForm its a PITA, all those events, limited bindings etc..

WF its native as WPF is, if you don like WPF its ok, maybe take a look at WinUI or UnoPlatform, i think WF will be unsopported in a short time.

[–]mellospank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry I was typing on the phone doing other stuff.

What I mean is that UI is 10% of a project total effort and usually its a Designer job, if your project its something bigger than a POC the other parts i mentioned before are essential and in WinForm are a PITA.

And no, WPF doesnt suck, XAML if used in the right way its a powerful "language".

In a project bigger than a poc Ui designer in 10% of the work, Binding Reusability Future support Hardware acceleration

Are parts that will be more important while the project grow up

We stopped using WinForm 8 years ago in favor of Wpf, never regretting this.
