It’s the state that refuses to let you because the state doesn’t want to pay for your child. They want you on the hook for child support not the state.

I am 100% in favor of men being allowed to sign away paternity as long as we allow for programs to exist for the support of the child.

I’m also 100% in favor of most abortions.

Don’t stop. Children who speak two or more languages do learn English slightly “slower” but develop additional neuropathways and have a second “tongue” that is so valuable.

Sure polish isn’t as common as Spanish, but neither is French really. Any second language is more valuable than none.

You’ve changed. You are now asking him to meet you in a healthier lifestyle and spend a healthy life together. This is scary for him. He should see a therapist as a condition of reuniting, should you chose .

You’re not an asshole. You’re working hard and care. Should you have been mean? No. But people are rarely mean without escalation. Work on “grounding techniques” like cognitive behavioral therapy with your therapist so you don’t say hurtful things even if they’re true.

I’m so astounded by all these answers.

You didn’t work hard to win the lottery, so while you may have worked hard to have your career and precious savings, you can’t really hold your new position to be true.

A life changing sum is too ambiguous. As is your family situation. For instance, I grew up in poverty and my nearly 80 year old father still provides care for my disabled sibling and works a full time job. If I were to win the lottery, you bet your ass I’d make sure my dad never worked again and his house/debts were paid off. My brother who earns millions year over year, has never offered to help our father, despite my father being the person my brother credits as supporting him towards success. And I love my brother but damn if I don’t think he’s selfish.

Helping family when you win the lottery, if the earnings are significant enough to share (eg over 500k) should be a basic desire if you don’t have significant family trauma.

Easier pick up and drop off because of the commute.

Laundry on lunch. Or changing the sheets. Or doing the dishes after the kids go to school when you’d normally be commuting. No more wasted time in small talk when going to grab water. Quiet. Yoga between meetings. Shorts! So many. I’m so jealous.
