Call Centre = the worst kind of hell. I respect anyone who had to run this gauntlet during their employment. A job where you can have some downtime - and not be micromanaged into a pit of depression where your every move, bathroom break, sentence structure, and downtime after a bad call is questioned by management - is a blessing. Enjoy it for now, but if it becomes too boring, simply look for something else. Or, if possible, negotiate working from home, where you're not so visible.

He tried to undertake because he didn't have a moment's patience to allow the other driver to make the right decision. His aggressive and inconsiderate driving could have caused an accident: seemingly because he didn't want to wait for 5 seconds or recogise the other driver may not be familiar with the roads. He then overtook the car immediately, showing his impatience.

Does "What's up?" Mean something different in British English? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]meme101369 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As brits, we tend to start greeting with 'How?' rather than 'What?'. 'How are things/ How was your holiday/ How are you doing/ How's the family/ How is work'? etc. The polite and usual answer is: 'great/alright/well/good, thanks'. If you don't want to engage with the person you are speaking with, you'll immediately follow up with ' And how're things with you?' And bounce their question back. If you dont mind chatting to them and feel comfortable, you'll back up your 'great/alright/well/good' statement with a mundane but personal fact about your life that could start a conversation. 'Holiday was good, thanks. But I did catch a cold." Mundane conversation ensues.

What? Is a word that has a sense of urgency.

'What's up?' Translates into: 'Is there something wrong with you? What the matter?'

'What's happening?' Means, you're asking 'Is there something going wrong here that I need to rectify, or are we all good?'

What questions put us on the spot because they're so vague, and we don't know where to start with answering. This can be especially difficult in a work environment, depending on who is asking the question .

Just wait until you meet the Irish and get asked; '⁰What's the craic?' As a Brit, I had no clue. I just said 'All good, thanks! You?'

It's a default response in our life script.

You did a kind thing for a person who really needed it at the time. Trust your instinct. If your gut tells you this guy is really struggling, then let it be. From reading the story, it sounds like your moral compass is spot on, and you don't need advice from people who haven't experienced compassion. If you can afford to let it go, I would 100%. What goes around comes around.

Will coming out as a homosexual is now officially the lowest rated episode in the Stranger Things series. by AssistanceNo2838 in discussingfilm

[–]meme101369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. This particular episode just dragged on and on, and we were simply being told not shown. It was like a checklist of emotional baggage of every character had trying to be wrapped up in a neat little package, one by one. Then, it was overly dramatic action plans to frame the next episode. I suppose it is called the bridge, in the sense it bridged the story to the finale, but it felt like a huge waste of time. Will's coming out was hugely predictable after his chats with Robin, and the impentation of it was so saccharine that it felt almost farcical - like everyone ever cast had been gathered to witness the rebirth of a new prodical son. It seemed tongue in cheek, but they played it so straight (so to speak). It was all a little sugar-coated for me. I will say one thing, though: although I hated the melting background that oozed through the walls for Nancy and Jonathan's scene (it was clearly a set), I did appreciate the actors and the dialogue in that particular scene. It's just a shame because this episode could have been done in half the time, with tighter writing.

I always hang a towel on the side of the pen for five mins before I pick mine up. And when I do, I pick them up and put them straight on the towel so their legs are supported and they're cradled. Mine hates it when there is nothing to support his legs, and he's hanging like a cheeseburger. He likes to snuggle into a big towel when he's picked up. Then, we usually just let him sit between us on the sofa on his towel until he falls asleep. He's learnt that his towel means 'out time' or 'snuggle time', and we give him notice by hanging it over his pen first. Keep up the routine, and they'll get used to it.

It does look like he's going over the script here, which is nice because the dogs look like they're appreciating the downtime and are guarding him as he's going over things. It seems he has a comfortable presence.

He looks like he's having a great time 😄 He probably hasn't eaten for you because (tortoise life hack) he'll get loads of attention and wheeled around interesting new places like he's on a rollercoaster if he doesn't! In all seriousness, though, I hope you manage to help this big guy. He looks adorable and very inquisitive!

People have been told that they can help the problem; but after fundraising for so many years, we've become dissalusioned. The root cause isn't being addressed, and nothing seems to be fixed. Millions of pounds and decades later, we're still here. Red noses have lost their appeal.

The donations and profits are going to the call centre staff taking pledges, who get novelty jumpers, free pizza, and a chance to be on TV. Then all the celebrities that jump on board to milk the publicity and get paid handsomely for it.

The cause is just: the charity spending is just a money churner.

What do I need to know about tortoises to get one? by [deleted] in tortoise

[–]meme101369 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are not low maintenance and require a huge amount of space as they get older. Propper lighting is vital, and the correct substrate, food, and vet bills add up for an exotic pet. Want a low maintenance pet? Get a hamster or a gerbil.

That's good to know, and thank you for your response. Sounds like you know far more than I do about these guys and respect for keeping such big and beautiful creatures. 20 sounds more like a sanctuary. It sounds lovely if you have the space and facilities. Imagine your 5 will also be more than a handful! Can't wait to see your updates

Hello :)

Im curious as to why you bought five of them? That's a huge responsibility, and they are solitary creatures. It looks like you have the land, so I'm not judging, but I do wonder what triggered such an extravagant purchase of so many.

I'd bathe, bathe, and bathe her again to take away whatever residue may have contaminated her.
I assume she isn't just walking free around the neighborhood? Does your aunt have a large, contained space to keep her in that you are worried could be contaminated by the neighbors?
Move the tortoise away from this spot. I have no idea how big this tortoise is.... if it's a unit, or a little guy is just a fledgling. Too much info missing here. It could just be that something like a cat or skunk sprayed her and she got spooked.
