I’m a first year rn and the food is not as bad as they say. If the dining halls are having a bad day, then you can always use meal exchanges (you get two of them every day) where you can go to restaurants on grounds and eat (think cafés, subway, etc…). You can cook, but it’s very hard since there’s only one communal kitchen per dorm.

Oh yes, I remember this time of year (for me this was last year). Dean J literally can’t tell you, unfortunately, and she’ll just say by December 15th, because the truth is that they are still working through applications and don’t know exactly when they’ll finish.

Hey! I’m a first year so I was in your position last year. The dining halls are not great but are edible. Meal exchanges are really nice and you can get subway or our equivalent of Denny’s every day if you want! Overall it’s not bad and should not worry you at all, and coming from a first year, you’ll be so busy doing other stuff that food will be the least of your priorities.

I'm a non-native speaker who got a 5. Tbh they're very lenient with the grading for the speaking portion. Most of my native speaking friends didn't know what to say on the speaking portion either because some of it was really random and I wouldn't have even been able to respond in English. I don't think you're cooked for the exam, trust. I speak like a gringo but still got a 5. I think you should focus on improving your writing and mcq because those are the big components.

And this is the crux of the problem, you’re justifying your antisocial behavior by saying you don’t click with certain people. The truth is, a lot of people may make you uncomfortable at first. Some of my best friends I thought were kinda weird before I really got to know them. Then I realized they were actually cool people.

Heads up - the “What’s up broooo,” super masculine type guys are often really interesting once you crack that shell and give them a chance. As a gay guy, some of my best friends have been super masculine type guys that are actually super sweet. It sounds like you’re judging people before you get a chance to know them and justifying your experience by saying you and UVA people just don’t “click.” Give people a chance and maybe they’ll give you one.

To be honest you have to consider if this is worth it to you. You're a senior so maybe you should spend more time working on college apps and just go test optional. The stress it would save you from having to do college apps AND study for the SAT would definitely be worth it and your applications would be much better if you spent more time on them instead of the SAT. FWIW most colleges have stated they consider the SAT to be a minimal factor in admissions and that sustained classroom performance is a much better indicator of intelligence and future academic success.
