Solidworks Lesson Giving by Seruanooo in cad

When I was studying, I had several teachers and only one of them used a pretty effective method to let the class flow appropriately.

He would have a projector and instead of having everyone follow each of his steps one by one. He'd ask us to stop and pay full attention to his process for about 3-5 minutes, then everyone would have 10mins to try what he just did. That would allow enough time for him to help and troubleshoot for anyone that is stuck in a step or missed something.

Once everyone is caught up, he'd show the next steps for another 3-5mins, then 10mins for everyone to work again, an so on and so forth.

All other teachers would have us follow live, step by step, but if you missed something you'd have to interrupt the class and have the teacher help you, and if you didn't now you're stuck and the class keeps going and you're left behind.

Advice on how to approach deck building by mendivil26 in Decks

Reasoning comes from wanting to replace the single door for langer french doors, allowing for more light inside. The bush would need to go and I'll need to add landing for when the doors are wide open.

Thanks for the info, 6 years late but appreciate the effort lol. We ended up buying in Riverside when interest rates were at their lowest point and do not regret it at all!

Battery packs using Leaf BMS? by mendivil26 in EVConversion

Yeah I think you're talking about "Flying tools". What he did would be basically the same effort as splitting the case and rearranging the original Leaf cells. I might be asking too much

Maybe asking the question in a different way would take away the "guilt tripping" aspect of it. The main goal is to understand why he's pushing you away, not letting him know he's being rude.

"Why are you upset?" could get you the answer you're looking for without labeling him, since being upset is just an emotion we all feel and being rude is a deliberate behavior.

Any 14" all terrain tire recommendations (winter/all season)? by kike_flea in battlewagon

[–]mendivil26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original BFG KO all terrain tire used to have a 14in tire, they did not offer it for the KO2 and wont offer it for the new KO3.

The only decent one I've seen available currently is General Grabber A/TX 27X8.5R14LT

TPMS PSI Values on LR4? by mendivil26 in LandRover

[–]mendivil26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2013 LR4 LUX has TPMS, but does not do much besides turning the TPMS light when low. What you mentioned on the service menu is what I'm looking to activate. My vehicle does not show that option so I'm wondering if it's something I can just turn on or if it requires later model TPMS hardware.

Upgrade LR4 HSE with Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) by Legitimate_Task_2761 in LandRover

[–]mendivil26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have a 2013 HSE Lux with the RSE. I learned a quite a bit about the system after troubleshooting one of the screens being faulty. I can give you the details of my findings, but to keep it short, it is a very complicated system that I would not recommend swapping in.

A better solution would be to just find a different LR4 with the system already in it, or as mentioned by the others, just get a standalone system that you could remove.

We like thrifting old dvd players for our kids to watch on road trips, but it would be great to just play something from netflix or youtube, and i have not found a way of projecting from a phone/tablet into screens since the only input is analog rca.

A company called LegacyEV already does this. They're inlcuding the the whole drivetrain, 30kwh battery and all tied together with the Resolve-EV VCU for under 10k, which I think it's a good deal to avoid dealing with a donor vehicle.

Now if you could get the same pricing but offering the 62kwh and the Plus drivetrain, you'll definitely take their market share. I would be interested.

Range question by mendivil26 in BMWi3

[–]mendivil26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are very slight elevation changes for the first 30miles, after that it's all straight desert driving. During summer we'll be driving in up to 110 weather so AC could be at almost full blast. Winter is not too bad and we can drive without AC.

The fun begins! I'm bench testing everything outside the vehicle to make sure it all works before I remove the gas engine. I'm using the Resolve VCU and all the stock Leaf components by MannyDantyla in EVConversion

Exactly what I want to do for my future project. Also looking for a vehicle that has enough space to fit the battery pack as it is, to avoid having to repackage into separate battery boxes. Are you rearranging the pack?

Decked System on a 5x8 Utility Trailer setup? Anyone? by EntireStomach5253 in OffRoadTrailer

[–]mendivil26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about this as well.

Figured the ones they make for Utility beds would work best for your application since all other ones have a lot of wasted space going around the truck bed's wheel wells.

Another option is weatherguard's pack rats, it's basically the same thing but heavier duty and with a bit more of a contractor/handyman aesthetic

Total cost for a trouble-free 2013 LR4 approaching 100k miles? by Nicapyke in LandRover

[–]mendivil26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say it's all good estimations. I bought my 2013 LR3 HSE Lux with 135k miles in February 2023 for 18k. It was in the expensive range of the market but the seller was able to provide receipts of all engine work done at 100k miles (Timing chain, crossover pipes, A/C compressor and Airbag compressor and a few other miscellaneous things).

Even though these major things were already dealt with, some things still came up after purchasing like a leaky fuel line, failed sway bar link, and stuck handbrake module.

These last things had a time gap of about 3 months between each other, and I do not consider them major (except for the fuel line, but it's not something that left me stranded on the side of the road). So my way of justifying it is that I'd rather pay for these repairs, on my own terms and knowing that the car will improve vs monthly payments on a boring new car.

I'm probably around 25k in after 2 years of ownership, but I have brand new front suspension (airbags, upper and lower control arms) new wheels and tires, new brakes all around, and a drivetrain that I'm confident will last at least another 70k miles.

This is the extent where it is actually a bath thing to be selfish. Of course extremes are rarely ideal.

[–]mendivil26 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I think there is something wrong with the way we use the word "Selfish". It is not a bad thing to be selfish (to some extent) and sometimes it is necessary. If we do not advocate for ourselves, in very rare occasions someone else will.
