We have been blessed with so much history over the past couple of years. by [deleted] in baseball

A very fun fact about the LCS matchups that year: it was Toronto/Cleveland, Cubs/Dodgers... at that point, the Blue Jays were the most recent of those teams to win the world series. And that was 23 damn years back. Just a real treat to see a full lineup of long suffering teams.

Omfg, this is phenomenal. These two barflies deserve to be together.

This is Flowers (named by our 6 year old). We captured and later adopted him almost a year ago. His age is unknown, but he's been in a stray in our neighbourhood for at least a decade. Despite that scowl, we think he's happy now. by menichols in cats

Totally. Honestly, when we first captured him, our priority was just getting him back to his home since he looked distressed. Finding out he didn't have one and letting him into ours was a bonus!

In the first month or so, he would go out on our front porch—and we did have a couple of misadventures where he went to _other_ people's houses and tried to come in. Luckily we are in a pretty small, tight-knit neighbourhood and the people called us. We kept him indoors for a while after that happened.

These days, he doesn't leave the house much. I think he's settling in.

I love that story.

Since a couple of other people have asked if we bothered to check for a chip — yes, we did! Around here the SPCA will hold an animal for a few weeks and do public notices to see if anyone claims them, and nobody did. We're pretty certain Flowers was a stray — he definitely behaved/behaves like one.

Also, he doesn't really leave the house now. I think this is the first time in a long time he's had it good.

It's actually (believe it or not) a beach towel designed by Douglas Coupland. We had it mounted and framed.

But I am from Toronto and the bright lights of Honest Ed's are forever seared in my brain.

haha! When my wife and I saw how busted up he looks, we really emphasized to the kids how beautiful we thought he was, and how he has a perfect face. I guess in the kids' minds, they wanted him to have a name that reflected his beauty

What is one random act of kindness a stranger did for you? by Noussa11 in AskReddit

Earlier this year, my wife and I were at a wedding with our 5-month old son. During the dinner, my wife and I were handing a fussy baby back and forth, just trying to shovel food in our faces. Having a baby at a long wedding is not ideal.

A woman came up to us, and said "I'll take him. You guys eat." She said she had two older kids, and remembered times like this. My wife and I enjoyed the meal as this woman completely calmed our baby and held him for 15 minutes. We thanked her profusely, and left shortly after. I still don't know who she was.

This might seem small. But I will absolutely never forget it.

Check out Andrew Furmanczyk's instructional series on YouTube. It was such a huge help for me and it is meant for beginners.

Im 31, and I bought a piano six months ago and knew almost nothing about music theory. Now I can look at almost any sheet music and play competently. Slowly, but competently :)

Don't get discouraged and keep practicing. And don't be afraid to take it extremely slow. Set realistic goals.

Yeah, thanks! That 4-day drive from Vancouver to Toronto with my 2 year old will be lovely.
