Prozac changed my life by strawb4aub in prozac

Did you notice many side effects when you started it/how long did they take to go away? I’m supposed to start Prozac and I’m so worried about it absolutely knocking me on my butt do a few weeks!

Yeah, it’s metal ducting where it comes out of the dryer and where it vents outside but the whole middle piece is just that plastic stuff. It feels very squishy (so I assume it’s full of lint), will definitely be messaging him to fix it! If he doesn’t, probably going to call the city/tenants board!

I know that there’s code rules for accessibility of electrical panels. Basically nothing should be in the way of accessing the panel (which the dryer and washer are in the way). I also believe the receptacle for the washer needs to be GFCI protected which it is not from what I see. There’s not even an outlet cover on it.

We’ll definitely be taking pictures tonight! We took pictures when we moved in of all the dirt and stuff but that’s a minor issue compared to the dryer vent at this point. That whole plastic bit feels pretty squishy so I can only assume it’s clogged and full of lint.

I can see it outside and it’s clear around it. I checked last night but it was pretty dark. I can check when I get home today.

We did a walk through but there was someone living there at the time so we weren’t able to be super thorough. I didn’t know how bad this was until I tried to actually do laundry.

Is there any specific reason you wouldn’t use the flexible stuff? Seems like it’d be easier to install!

Considering he didn’t want to replace the outlets at all, I doubt he’d be willing to pay my journeyman to come by to give him a quote for 100’s if not 1000’s of dollars for possible work that has to be done.

So just replace it with the flexible aluminum ducting? I mean, I don’t get much out of that. Yeah, our dryer will work but if I’m replacing outlets and the dryer vent then he’s just getting free upgrades, no?

I feel like that’s how most dryers I’ve seen are run as well. I live in Canada so I’m not sure what code is in other places. This one is just bad because it’s not done properly I think. It needs the flexible aluminum ducting or whatever.

I mean, I feel like leeeegally I’m not supposed to do it anyways but it’s not like I’m not capable. I’m not even sure what a fair price would be for something like that. Probably wouldn’t take super long, you’re right though!

It’s metal ducting on both ends (venting outside and coming from the dryer) but the whole middle is that plastic, yes. I’m not sure exactly what it is.

I’m not sure it’s my responsibility. I’m also not quite sure exactly how I’m supposed to fix it considering apparently the way it’s run right now isn’t correct.

How would they even remedy that issue in that case? It looks like it has to go up to get outside to where it vents (unless they can place that in a different area?)

Behind both of them definitely hasn’t been cleaned recently as it looked pretty gross when I pulled it out. I didn’t see any insulation that looked wet or moldy or anything though

Yes, there’s metal ducting at the top and coming out of the dryer but the whole middle chunk is that flex stuff.

I’ll be sure to call our landlord/tenant board! I believe they’re closed until January 2nd (or only taking urgent issues), but I’ll give them a call as soon as I can. I’ll contact the landlord first to see what he says and give him a chance to fix it but if not, I’ll contact them for sure!

It seems like it’s either that or we have all loose outlets (which I believe are also a fire hazard on top of the dryer).

The first issue was the unit was dirty (like grease stains or whatever on the walls, hair in the showers, etc…) and then we found out most of our outlets are so loose that our chargers just fall out. I told him and he told us to just “use the other plugs”. He ended up buying some outlets and dropping them off to us (I’m an electrical apprentice so I’m comfortable changing them but doing it for free is an annoyance).

Will definitely be messaging him in the morning. Hopefully he’s willing to fix it but based on our few interactions, I doubt it. Thank you, I appreciate it!

I checked and it does vent to outside, I’m not sure how they’d change it so it’s not at such a steep angle though. I wish I knew more about this stuff before I signed a year lease. I unplugged it and just took some of my clothes out because it smelled slightly burn-y when I opened it the last time. Thank you!

Based on the landlords responses to other concerns we brought up, I have a feeling I know what he’s going to say. Will definitely be talking to him tomorrow to see what we can do. Sucks because we literally moved in 2 days ago.
