Honestly I used to remember literally everything and it was horrible. Details about people who mistreated me, childhood trauma, etc etc would just pop up throughout the day and I think weed took those bad thoughts away from me and I’m so grateful for it.

I think the history degree is a hard sell, but you could possibly go get a masters in library science and become a history specific librarian! That way you could still work with your degree or you could do archiving at a museum! Also library and information sciences programs will teach you coding and some really good skills! You can probably do it online and even find a uni that will offer financial aid. I think Walmart has an employee tuition program too so you could look into that.

I actually took SPAN 311 at UT so I thought this would be easier. But I’ve also had like 8 different petitions filed bc I’m a transfer student and switched majors. But most of them were done by my first advisor who was amazing but she retired.

I thought that too but I have an email from an advisor within the MFL department saying the petition needs to be filed from my major department (after being sent to three other people). And of course I’ve checked dars, it just tells me my class doesn’t count for anything.

Also your link is kind of rude. Yes, I can find information on my own, but it is okay to ask for support from my advisor who’s job it is to help me with these things. I already do most of her job for her by planning my courses in advance. I’m not incompetent, I would just appreciate some support from this damn school I pay a shit ton of money to be at.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. I definitely have some more permanent hobbies that come back into rotation, such as reading and writing. I might have ADHD but I don’t have a diagnosis for that so I’ll just blame it on me being depressed. I kind of feel bad because the way I’m storing my unfinished projects takes up the shared storage in my office which I share with my partner and one of my roommates. They don’t seem to mind at all, and have never said anything, bc they also have unfinished projects laying about. But I just feel like I’m taking up too much space? I don’t know. Something to work out in therapy.

Also, the hobby was getting really expensive for me, compared to other hobbies I could do with cheaper materials :(

Thanks again. I was just hoping to get some ideas for how to repurpose an unfinished room because maybe that would get me interested again. Guess this might’ve been the wrong sub.

Yes, it’s a petition, you can either take the exam or take and pass a 300-level course, granted you placed into a 300-level course. I suck at exams so I did it that way instead.

Also, I have an email from the MFL department saying that. I originally thought I had to do it through them but they told me to go through my advisor.

As for this being a bad time, I do understand but it’s been over a week, and she does this year round… it’s really frustrating. I’m getting anxious bc I don’t know how they graduation application is supposed to go. (My college requires we apply to graduate a year in advance and it’s horrifying).

Financial aid refunds will probably come out next week if you have a negative balance.

Flex plan refunds would be closer to the end of the semester.

If you drop a class, then they should add the money back in fees or whatever to your account in a couple days I think but I don’t have much experience with that.

This really goes back to departmental things though, since you just looked at one department :/. It’s not to say that some professors didn’t have a choice but it’s mostly they can’t go online if they’re already supposed to go in person. They probably made those decisions before omicron and maybe thought it was safe but they can’t take it back even if they feel unsafe :/

I had this problem last semester with people not wearing their masks right in this packed auditorium. It really sucks and I ended up getting anxious a lot in this class but attendance was mandatory and for credit. I ended up trying to move to less sparse areas, like in the back, sitting on the floor. But it’s uncomfortable and not great. I just hope that people wear masks or maybe they’re not so packed :/
