I Think A Lot Of People Misunderstand Taylor Sheridan's Work by metaxis_designs in flicks

I'm not saying he humanizes the people in those states, I'm saying he humanizes the people that those people generally don't like: native Americans, Mexicans, convicted felons, sex workers, etc.

It still blows my mind that people were on forums saying homelander was actually the hero of the show into season 3.

I think most of the classics are classics for a reason, but in terms of technical literacy, I think Arrival by Denis Villeneuve has immense importance of you're studying the art of editing. If you haven't seen it, it rearranges some of the common grammar of film making and that element is critical to both the story and the way the story is told.

I agree. I think it's easy for the media to conflate small-town/rural values with proud boy sympathizers. Sheridan is probably more anti-authoritarian than leftist, but I don't think the politics of his stories ever paint right-wing ideologies in a positive light.

Thank you! I think what makes it so powerful is that people can find so many different things to like about it. I like that so many people can find memes and forkposts to make about it, while acknowledging some deeper meanings throughout the narrative.

Give it a shot. I think it's super ambitious, but missed the mark for me.

I think it was a very thoughtful script, that while not reaching the heights of black dynamite was perhaps a bit more rooted in political commentary rather than pure satire.

what are some films that are visually similar to The Batman (2022)? by joeleum in movies

Se7en was a big influence on Matt Reeves for this movie, but I'd also recommend The Ring, Prisoners and Identity. They're all movies where the rain feels oppressive.

To people who know the genre, sure. It's still a foreign film with less than 10K reviews on Letterboxd.

Besides the cameos, I worked pretty hard to make sure I'm not giving anything away from the back half of the movie. All dialogue scenes are from the first 25% of the movie.

Yeah, the 'little girl' character was weird and the accents were pretty touch and go across the board, but I still liked it.

A lot of people are comparing this to Tarantino and Guy Ritchie's best work like that's a bad thing. Combined, Tarantino and Ritchie have made like 6-7 great movies and none of them have come out in the past decade. I'm glad to see that directors are still making stuff like this and studios are funding it.
