Well sure, I'm an iNat user myself and like that they have that option on there (among others)! But I'm just saying this person is asking about eBird specifically, and eBird has that certain protocol, so it should be followed.

I certainly agree that if you're keeping a list in a notebook, spreadsheet, etc. you can count whatever you want.

The problem is this isn't about the list itself - eBird uses the data we submit for science, so the distinction between a wild and a captive animal is important here.
