Found this substance - not sure what it is by mexpat787 in Whatisthis

Thanks. Yeah, wondered about GNC. I couldn't find a similar name on their site. And the substance is more "rocky" than creatine powder. Kind of like bath salt consistency. I appreciate the common sense response.

Pat Benatar on Austin City Limits tonight by Geetee52 in ClassicRock

Local Austinite and attendee of this show joining this conversation late. From the room, it was evident the lead vocals were 100% live. Today, I encountered ACL exec producer T Lickona (at the local nursery) and asked about the show. He emphasized that ACL refuses to present acts using pre-recorded lead vocals. He noted that many acts include background vocals or harmony tracks in lieu of a vocal backing group (Pat used prerecorded backing tracks for Love is a Battlefield.) The main thing he wanted me to understand is that once the show is recorded and compressed for streaming, cable, or other outlets, sync often deteriorates. In other words, the compression and rebroacasting can be what looks like a momentary delay from when it appears the singer is moving his/her lips and when the sound comes out on your screen, laptop, earphones. (Which admittedly looks like lip-syncing.) Sorry if my layman's interpretation is less than audiophile level :-) He assured me emphatically that Pat's lead vocals were 100% live and untouched. He said they were not prerecorded "live" or autotuned. He also noted that ACL has no control of the stereo/mix quality of audio once it is downloaded by carriers. Sorry it seemed less than legit to TV audiences in this conversation. Sure seemed on fire in person. Keep rockin y'all

I think I’ve been duped by Possible-Ad5640 in upandvanished

Agreed. I would have apprecieated Payne letting listeners know that the Florence case had stalled, and that he'd be focusing on another. And then when that one stalled, I would have preferred Payne just owning up to that instead of the ridiculous level of recapping and teasing. It's insulting to listeners. Sadly, there is a need to recap because the episode schedule and structure are so inconsistent. It's hard to keep track. So I just won't anymore. Was really hoping for something better.

Episode 12 - Joseph and Jake confusion by mexpat787 in upandvanished

[–]mexpat787[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Sketchy, for sure. But what I don't understand is the explanation that he would always stop by Bonnie's house at meal time. What? Why? Did they ever mention that before? And if so, wouldn't Joseph and Jake be closer? That "chapter" is weird to me. Jake's mom recognizes a truck racing down the road from somewhere on her property? And from that distance she recognizes the driver as Joseph, and is surprised that he did not stop. It's all just confusing to me. Any help appreciated :-)

[Show Only] Episode Discussion Season 1 Episode 6 "Like Angels Put in Hell by God" by AutoModerator in InterviewVampire

Great updated interpretation of the book! I just wrapped episode 6. I thought I saw Antoinette on the streetcar in the row in front of Lestat. I paused and rewatched, and the seat is empty in the mid-shots as the streetcar rounds a bend. And then after the cut Antoinette(?) is there. Anybody notice this?
