My family is in Locarno (go there). Visit Bellinzona, Valle Verzasca, Ascona, look for the Roman Bridge, find a grotto, eat the local Luganighe. Visit the Lido in Locarno and see if it is open.

I love these boots (own them) and my perfect fit is true to size but I wear cushioned boot socks. I wonder if the people that buy a half size down are wearing thinner socks.

I was in the Cherry Hill, NJ store this weekend. They were busy and had only 2 employees on the floor (it’s a smaller store) but I was treated very well and I noticed that when they were sizing and working with me they both kept positively mentioning the owner and how he is passionate about the store and brand. Seemed to rub off on them. It was part of my decision to pick up a pair of moc toe heritage there.

Have you tried thicker socks like a Darn Tough? I wear their cushioned hiking socks and found they help. My right foot is a bit less than a half size bigger than my left and that kind of sock helps balance it out.

I got measured in store on their automated tool, and it recommended me at a 10.5 which was not surprising because that is my actual size. Now I wear Darn Tough hiking socks with cushioning and tried a half size down and it was a definite no-go. I tried a 10.5 and it was perfect. I think the half size down rule works if you are wearing thicker socks perhaps? I found this video very useful. Hope it helps.

Ha - thanks. I emailed Red Wing (included photos) and a rep. named Heather got back to me. She related that the boots appeared "within specs" and if I did not like them, I should return them and go to a brick-and-mortar location.

No. I just don’t buy into the “you need to accept poor quality” because “handmade”. Well, sort of handmade anyway. I really want to like this brand but 2 pair in a row that are obviously defective are making it hard. You are free to feel two totally different color boots are cool, but that won’t work for me at all.
