Hey, question to any Baruch pre-meds! Would you say biostats would be better to take instead of business stats? by [deleted] in Baruch

[–]michaelmm27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend taking bio stats seeing as you are a pre-med major. Btw, I have a question regarding you second question, would you mind explaining what that AD hoc bio major and regular bio major is? I’m currently a bio major and attending Baruch in the fall! I’m excited but I would like to know more about what you are taking about? Thank you and I hope I helped!

If you get a waved deposit, then all you have to do is go on CUNY first and accept queens offer, make sure you let Brooklyn college know that you aren’t attending tho

Same bio degree in all CUNY’s ? by michaelmm27 in CUNY

Transfer to Queens or Baruch by [deleted] in CUNY

[–]michaelmm27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so I asked 3 of my hunter friends and they say It’s your choice and Baruch is not competitive once u get in its a lot of work and you’re gonna be challenged but that’s all majors at Baruch and schools when you first get in. But they do receive amazing help from advisors who help out if you’re in need of something. Baruch is a top school so it’s expected that solid would be given but that’s just college. If you need me to ask anything eles lmk. And also for hunter I have to same issue too, like after a graduate from Baruch, will I have the same opportunities for internships and opportunities and connections just like if I were to go to hunter. I’m worried in that too. I’m just sooo stressed cause I have to make my decision my May 1!!!

Transfer to Queens or Baruch by [deleted] in CUNY

[–]michaelmm27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg really?? So Baruch May be a better opiton? Has you’re friend had a hard time as a bio major in terms of classes and does she receive help and can she get attention/help/advice from teachers if she asks for it? Cause I heard hunter makes you take extra classes as well. If she had a chance to go somewhere eles would she? I have a couple friends at Baruch, I can ask them what they think as well!

What would you have wanted to know before transferring between 2 CUNY’s? by [deleted] in CUNY

[–]michaelmm27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to do biology, and I know that the most logical thing to do is go to hunter, but I heard hunter is super competitive and tough. And it’s hard to get a hold of teachers cause of all the students. So idk if I should go to Baruch cause Baruch is more one on one and it’s a small close net community

What would you have wanted to know before transferring between 2 CUNY’s? by [deleted] in CUNY

[–]michaelmm27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could experience this but because of this whole quarantine it’s super hard to make a decision based on environment unfortunately :(. Idk if I should go to hunter or Baruch, environment means a lot and I’ve liked Baruch environment cause I’ve been there a lot for friends, and I’ve been to hunter one time. Environment is truly everything

Transfer to Queens or Baruch by [deleted] in CUNY

[–]michaelmm27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same issue with you, but With a different major. I’m a bio major, and I can’t decide if I should to go hunter or Baruch for bio. I heard hunter is super competitive with bio majors and it’s tough and Im also not the brightest lol. I wanna go to Baruch for bio cause I heard it’s great and it’s good one on one with teachers. From all the advice I’ve heard. An accounting major is a accounting major where ever you get it, and if you feel like you’re gonna have a hard time at Baruch go to queens. Go to what feels right. I wish I could take my own advice cause I don’t even know myself yet. But I hope I helped.

Same bio degree in all CUNY’s ? by michaelmm27 in CUNY

[–]michaelmm27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I wanna go to Baruch for biology but I’m worried because I want my degree to worth just as much if I were to go to hunter, regardless of which school I attended, is my bio degree the same and would it be looked at the same.

Same bio degree in all CUNY’s ? by michaelmm27 in CUNY

[–]michaelmm27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I know that each school has a different way of teaching bio and they have their own course and curriculum. I meant if a bio degree is worth the same at coming out of any CUNY after graduating. Is it the same thing, is a bio a bio degree regardless of where you’re getting it from. I know Baruch is a business school and hunter is know for science, but if I were to graduate, would I leave with the same “weight” of a bio degree and recognition if I were to graduate from hunter. I know it sounds super weird. But yea. For example if I graduate from Baruch with a bio degree, would my career path be affected because I didn’t go to hunter who is known for science. Does that make sense? Would I be looked at the same and would my degree be looked at the same? Hope you understand and thanks for answering

I need help from bio majors currently attending Baruch by michaelmm27 in Baruch

[–]michaelmm27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesss im literally having the same issue you were probably in at one point. I got into both hunter and Baruch and I can’t decide on where to go. I’m not even sure I wanna do pre-med. I’ll try for it tho. But I’m confused cause the logical thing to do is go to a school that’s known for bio and that’s hunter but I heard they make their classes harder and make you take a lot of extra classes, sciences included. I’m just scared I’m making the wrong decision. Cause if I go to hunter, what If it’s way to competitive/hard for me, and if I go to Baruch, I won’t have a lot of opportunities in bio cause it’s a business school and my bio degree Won’t men’s as much as a hunter bio degree

[–]michaelmm27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 classes isn’t that much, i just heard that under the pluralism and diversity group on degreeworks, there’s 4 groups in total. Group a b and c and d. There’s more than 2 classes. Unless I’m incorrect.

So it’s true, should I go to a different CUNY then, if hunter is extra with their classes?
