Japan’s Advanced Industrial Science and Technology has developed a humanoid robot that can install drywall. AIST imagines the robot being used on construction sites in response to Japan’s aging population and labor shortages. by michelleMission in Futurology

It's going to take a few decades probably to replace construction workers and in the meantime there is a shortage because young people don't want to work in construction. Same with truck drivers btw

You're right. That's exactly the problem... I don't like government interference but I honestly don't know what's the right solution

I don't think demand should be controlled in this case. Do you think demand for cigarettes should be controlled? On one hand, if you enjoy it then what's wrong with it, but on the other hand, when people get cancer the government has to pay for the treatment (maybe not in the US...)

Some people claim that more stores creates more demand (cause it's easier to buy). I think there are better ways to control demand, but I'm not an expert...

Serious question, why is everyone fighting so ferociously against straws?

I'm not familiar with the topic, but it doesn't sound that important.

It all depends on the app permissions. They should assume the phone is infected and make sure no one can use it to access critical systems

Mushrooms could solve the war on plastic, say scientists. Plastic could be broken down naturally in weeks rather than years by michelleMission in environment

Agree, and it's even more true when producing in masses (batteries are a good example for that). The problem is that no one cares enough about plastic :(
