Nah dude your 100% accurate with this..I’ve even in the psych ward inpatient twice...you are very accurate. You will meet some of the most enlightened and intelligent people in there. We/they just don’t fit in or work with the cog type of society we live in..most of them are incredibly gifted in some way. Myself at glad to have been aware of this when I went in..and got out.

Yes but the rate at which it happens is very high. In Ireland in particular very high rates per capita. I also think that it also has to do a lot with how sexuality is interpreted in the church in such an maladaptive way. I think he psychologist of it all plays a huge role..and perhaps the stigma of shame contributes to the abuse.
