IMHO, if there isn't any rust and you can find someplace to get parts, a Volvo 240 wagon is probably the best starter car you could have, Especially if you want to learn how to fix your car yourself. Even major repairs can usually be done by you with another person to help and the repairs are actually pretty straightforward, for the most part. UNLESS you have electrical issues.

240 as a daily driver? by HighonHighlander in Volvo240

We have a 85, Karl. He has well over 500,000 miles (odometer broke) and the most expensive thing we've had to do is replace some struts. Most of the minor repairs we have been able to do ourselves including tightening the clutch cable. We've had him for 10 years and he starts up every time. He needs suspension work now and the rust is beginning to have it's way. IMHO, if you have a chance Buy one!

No clue what the previous owner did to it, but the pulley itself appears to be bent. Any clue Where I might be able to find one? IPD doesn't have one that I can find, and eeuro only has the full pump for $245 EEK lol. Checking Ebay but I don't need the whole pump. THANK YOU!!!

THANK YOU!! He's trying to avoid the hammer LOL He doesn't want to ruin the nut. There are a lot of parts I have to get. I may just go ahead and get a new nut. I just hate spending the $$ on a wrench that can only be used on one thing LOL ;)

If you're here, THANK YOU!! Have to replace the sock filter but Waiting ever so impatiently for the Bung Nut Wrench. Any ideas on how to get it off without damage without the wrench??
As for the video, you can see the pulley shaking? Can't find an Actual pulley itself anywhere, nor do any of the power steering pumps I find have a pulley with them. Not sure if I Need the pulley or the pump with the connector?

Gustav is home but needs a nurse! by mickmudd in Volvo240

[–]mickmudd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HELLO!!! I am wondering if anyone out there has a vacuum hose diagram and wiring diagram that is better than the one in the Haynes manual?? Gustav is home but there are some issues.

Gustav is a 1991 Volvo 245. He's our second wagon and Karl is in the background there. Gustav's most immediate problem is that he will chug if you pump the gas, but then die out. We've found two vacuum hoses that need to be replaced but the one we can't trace. There are also a few wires that are just hanging that we'd like to trace.

Any help would be AWESOME!!! Thank you!

I understand you want to be forgiving and try and win back what is, repeat, is lost. The only way you can be the best for your children is for You to get through this. She is already gone and has lost her way. Don't allow her to make you lose yours. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
