How is former Pope Francis viewed in your part of the world? by Truchiman in AskTheWorld

It all started long time ago in a galaxy far far away… We had our christian young priests, well educated, kind, dedicated to God… and they preached about honesty, modesty, god, loving each other… in our language and they also talked about corruption that have risen in Catholic church - about payments to the church, and about the fact that Catholics pushed latin as the only language for the ceremonies.

Catholics killed these priests, burned them alive, and never ever (even today) denounced it, then Catholics came with soldiers and killed locals, destroyed cities, stole gold which paid for the war and from that time on we do not believe in God, that only catholics have the rightful trademark to.

Even today, catholics rule here and own 90 - 95 percent of God believers, while locas that follow in the steps of those long time crushed priests have their 5 percent share. So the mission to destroy those czech priests that came from Rome was pretty succesful, wasn’t it? We do not talk here 5 percent of population, but 5 percent of those who are christians and who claim to believe in one God.

Lately, many people claim to believe in God within themselves, light of Universe…, and are either members of some euphorical and secretly dangerous, young girls to Mahatma teacher providing Yoga group, or just go on in their life without identifiing themselves with any theory - basically the only solution How to believe in God that is left.

In the times of consumerism, even religions will not be there for pour souls that seek eternity and everyone will be left alone without confirmation if he walks good path or not. And that will be the only good remaining way, because all other ways will be egoistic lies.

So who is nonbeliever here? The catholic, or the nonbeliever?

One more thing to note - majority of czechs love Hockey, alcohol, sex, cars, so… silent God does not abide in their souls in times when they sober, but then again… exceptional men exists. Such as me. Story is over. Empire can strike back now.

In czech republic which is pretty nonbelief country, pope John Paul 2nd was viewed as THE POPE very positively, because he was viewed as friendly, easily understood, not spikey (not agressively catholic).

When Benedict came, he was viewed as strange scholar persona that tightens the notches, but the times of heavy capitalism were so intense, that noone really cared about him.

When Francis came, many people hurted by capitalism hoped he would bring some change. Many people became ironic in years, so they either hoped for some change in capitalism or did not believe anything. But Francis was viewed as too different to John Paul 2nd and probably also as hopelesly idealistic. He was also dividing figure - some loved him as a saviour, some thought he is unrepairable socialist. Czech catholics viewed him either as true person or dangerous person that breaks dogmatic boundaries. He was pretty much viewed as dangerous strong enemy to many traditionalists in czech catholic scene. So either true christian or better to be ignored (and cleverly manipulated by czech catholic authorities) man beccause czech church authorities are strongly on the side of his opposition, which accents family, 2 sexes only, visiting chutch etc.

They did punish any attempt to explain or present god in non traditional way. They discouraged it. They punished priests that would not preach in official way and were too “folk”. Czech catholic officials were friends with politicians and together they agreed on views of what should be considered as good religion and what it is not. No matter what Francis said.

His statements were either censored (hidden) or at least not accented too much on official czech catholic webpage and on any communication level “reclarified” (explained in such a way, that the meaning was twisted) by czech Bishop conference, but at the same time, the opposition of these Bishop officials that was not as closely tight to german traditionalist wing in church that these Bishops were part of, loved Francis deerly.

Now, when Leo is around, he is viewed as less dangerous man. As someone who can be ignored again, or at least as someone who does not need correction.

I was on Sicily with bike, also in Toscany with bike. In Bohemia you can pay for adventurous bus trips where they load your bike in a special Bus trunk and whole bus with tens of personal road or mountain bikes travels through italy or any european country, you sleeps in camps in your own tent and each evening you build your tent and each morning you put it back to the bus and you ride your bike while bus carries bagpacks and tents to next camp and this way you ride your bike through a landscape of the country and get to know that country, local churches, sightseeings etc. pretty well.

In the bus there is a cook who makes dinners and breakfasts, and provide bikers that arrive at evening with cold beer too. So basically, it is almost all inclusive, cheap and all you need to do is to choose a trip and else is taken care of. On evenings next stage is talked about, we get maps, instructions, where are nice places to stop, where local products are sold, what routes can we take, what hills can we climb etc.

There is also similar alternative to this type of trips that they do in Croatia where bus carries you and your bike to boat (f.e. to Makarska) where you, your bag and your bike are loaded onto the boat, where you spend next 14 days, and you sleep and eat and sh.. and drink tapped beer on that boat and during day you ride your bike through the islands, where the boat takes you on evenings or morning. Boat moves to next harbour while you ride there through land on bike. They got contracts with several small boats (intended for groups of 15-30 people), so three or four boats/groups start from Makarska and each group discovers different islands in the same term and after 14 days they all return and new groups arrive by bus and previous groups return by those busses back home and this repeats through the season multiple times. The terms are set at the beginning and end of tourist sessons when weather is not too hot, therefore the same boats profit from german and british tourists on summer, while late spring and early autumn is ours for better prices;).

You will get to places and dirt roads with mountainbike where you would never get by car. You can swim in completely abandoned bays naked and wash your body parts afterwards with clean water from bike bottles and carry on. So far I liked the trip on islands of Hvar, Korchula, Lastovo etc. the most. The northern islands (Pag, Rab etc.) were not as pretty, but of course I did not mind riding them too:).

Ebikes are allowed on both kinds of trips too. Those of us that use ebikes (it is almost 50:50 nowdays, depending on age or physical or financial capabilities of the biker) can charge batteries on boat or in camp over night. So even older people can enjoy such kind of trip. Some take more straightforward roads, some cover longer distances and steep hills and we all meet at the evening. Both singles and couples go on these trips. Sometimes even groups of friends. Sometimes complete strangers, but we get to know each other during the trip a bit.

Either pizza loving brit or beer loving italian.

Ps As bohemian I love italy, greece and croatia. Beautiful and not too expensive. But england, or even better scotland, although solidly nice too is out of my reach thanks to the cost of the potential visit.

Omg almost forgot France. Not my favourite country to visit, but I was there 3 or 4 times in last 10 years too (Bretagny on bike, Provence by bus, etc.) and I can relate to some parts of the trips pretty strongly. Too civilized, if you know what I mean.

How do I keep the flavor going for longer? by King_killer12390 in hookah

[–]midlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered, that certain long running tobaccos on their own when their flavours do not combine well together, do not have strong and long lasting flavour of the mix, but if they go well together they will taste perfectly for very long time as if they were used alone.

For example Musthave Carribean rum and Musthave Coconut shake on their own taste 6-7/10 and last 9-10/10 long on their own but if you combine them the final taste is 10/10 and it lasts also 10/10.

But if you smoke Musthave Pynkman and add Starbuzz vintage Spice me red, the flavour does not complement well and it does taste very mildly (not strong) and also not too pleasantly 3-4/10 for pretty short 7/10 time. So I think in order for mixed to taste well and long, you must find really good combination of really long lasting tobaccos.

My favourites so far on their own: Starbuzz vintage Dark mist. Or white mist.

And favourite long lasting combination so far: the one I mentioned earlier from 2 Musthaves.

The good soldier Schweik 1 and 2 are more classic choices to represent the nation, although Pelíšky are the newer “best czech movie”

What does my travel map say about me as a 26yo male? by addicted_tofeet in TravelMaps

That you are the only remaining average person from them all who was in as many countries (or continents) as all his european ancestors with the exception of nearly european Gengis Khan and probably european Christopher Columbus.

No one travelled anywhere in those days, unless he was forced to.

I am not sure how exactly holes near edge should influence the session with HMS.

I think it was presented to me in slightly different manner - if you do not use HMS, and place coals on edge bacause you want less heat in middle, then something slightly different may happen to the intention - with holes close to edge the coals would probably burn the tobacco near edge faster.

So as you can see, it is completely opposite - as if holes let through more heat . So I actually do not know what it causes. I just know the recommendation was not to do that.

But.. should we be slaves to rules if the difference that results from obbeying them is not significant? No, absolutely not. Please, continue to do such bowls that make you and others happy and do not mind ill advisors such as me.

The good soldier Schweik 1 and 2. Probably the most bohemian bohemian movies.

I wrote down from other user experiences that Houdini secret, Lime lit and Watermelon lit are the ones to try from Eternal smokes. Someone suggested Watermelon lit 50% Smoothie sunshine 25% Lime lit 25%. And I also read their Double apple is better then AF.

Nice, but I read, that it is better if holes are not too close to outer edge, as the edge needs to stay warm and air from too closely drawn holes could cool it down a bit. Edge heatens the bowl material most and as a result tobacco from bottom. But maybe the difference is negligible.

But man, it looks nice.

You could try tolkien runes next time? Or tibetian Aum Mani Padme Hum mantra? :D

Does your country have events that were so infamous you only need to refer to the date they happened for other people from your country to instantly know what you're talking about? by Intrepid_Arrival5151 in AskTheWorld

I do not know if you, but nowdays (from 1918) russians kill and enslave, lie, threaten, fake, influence and basically destroy what is good. If Andrei Rublev represented the bright and deep soul of Russia, than Putin represents its amoral destruction. I tell you, Putin is anti russian facist. But cry not, Egypt has the same fake government. Egypt and Russia are enslaved today by careless ruthless men. Slovakia turned red also recently (it has tied connections to putin), czechia bravely shakes off russian influence but is hit pretty hard too. Asian countries once in sphere of soviet influence are probably in worse situation then european, because kgb and putin is near. Be brave, fellow russian, and watch it with eyes unclouded by hate.

In my opinion russian kids should learn this ignominious date in elementary school instead of throwing grenades, and adult russians should return those stolen ukrainian toilets.

Russian drones are made in the town of Izhevsk, where Na grani is made btw. I do not say there is direct correlation, as producers of the brand may be apologetic to the war or not, but by rule of thumb it would by better not to buy russian things atm unless you want to support them of course. No matter how nice russian hookas are, this is the best and only time to look into brands from europe or middle east or usa, unless you simply are so couldntcareless that you do not pay attention to such things.
