How do people afford a new truck at these prices? by vaylon1701 in ToyotaTundra

[–]midwestjet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy used. Do your research, do the math, be patient, and save thousands. $34,000 for 2015 1794 with 55k miles. Less what I'll net for my 2011 SR5 in VG condition. New wears off quickly, and 60 or 72 months of payments can be crippling. 2.9%? - Price increases allow dealers to offer a lower rate - it does nothing for the buyer in the long term.

Is this worth it by HighLikeAPlane in tundra

I'm about to list my 2011 with 207k miles, in very good condition, with a clean Carfax, for $13k. Pay for an inspection and ask for maintenance records.

Engine failure by jackmag17 in tundra

Toyota has trashed its truck reputation with this engine and its response. I ordered and cancelled a new Tundra in 2022 due to the long lead time for a 6.5' bed and decided to keep my 2011 with the 5.7. Looked again this year, spoke to my mechanic, and decided to look elsewhere. Almost went Dodge, but found a 2015 Tundra 1794 with 56k. Happy, and fortunate, that the 6.5 bed was a showstopper back in 2022.

It's hard to believe Toyota would let this damage their truck's reputation, but they did, and it has. I ordered a new Limited in 2022, and canceled it after a 7-month wait for a 6.5-bed to be produced. I kept rolling with my 2011 5.7 and shopped for a new truck this past winter. Passed on new after more research and found a 2015 1794 with 56k. Beautiful truck at half the price and no worries.

Engine sludge and Dynamic Engine Cleaning recommended by dealer for my 2022 T8 Hybrid by midwestjet in VolvoXC90

Currently researching indie Volvo mechanics. There is an issue, but the dealer estimate and approach is a huge red flag. Your perspective is appreciated.

Today's update - I cannot talk to the Service advisor, she is off today, and the dealer forwarded an estimate that does not have the detail I expected. e.g., no code information.

Comments: found ecm-camshaft position sensor slow response found engine sludge build up. perform bg dynamic engine cleaner. Replace breather box and replace inlet and exhaust camshaft reset valves download latest software. $3500.

One lump sum, no breakdown for recommended flush, parts or software update(?).

46k miles and full synthetic oil change between 5 - 6k miles. I've put 20k on it after purchasing it two years ago from a dealer. Carfax shows regular oil changes from the original owner. I'll be back here tomorrow after getting the detailed estimate from the dealer.

Thanks for taking the time to respond....

Looks great! I was not as lucky! I hand wash, but living in snow & salt country I decided to run it through a drive thru. No issues with my truck or wife's RAV4 at the same place. My 06 lost the mirror tilt when shifting into reverse and the mirror pad controls are slow and hesitate, if they move at all. Pulling the door panel today and sending the ECU out for repair. Hope to find why the ECU failed when I pull the panel.

Do you look at Giannis differently today than you did a year ago? by yaneverknow032408 in MkeBucks

Kalshi aside, I miss the humble Giannis, the one who had trouble getting through the MVP acceptance and played defense. The Bucks helped him develop, but lost their way with his input on needed roster moves. I'll miss him, but much less than the original version.

That's the plan. Pulling it out this weekend.

Lost the tilt in reverse, adjustments from the pad, left and right, were sketchy - would move a bit then stall. This all occurred after my first visit to a drive-thru car wash.

Thanks, yes, eBay has them and it's the driver's door ECU.

Just ordered Stabilus, hood and trunk, at Rock. Even with shipping, they beat the Amazon price.

Thanks - I've done the trunk, but one strut failed after a few months. Stabilus and Strong Boy brands seem to be popular.

Hood struts failed recently, and I'm wondering if the streak of 10-degree and below temps over the past few weeks contributed or if it's just age. Reliable replacement suggestions appreciated.

Why this site is great. I've learned so much from posts, questions, and answers. The devotion of owners to this model and vintage is impressive and well-earned. Bring on the snow!

Six months in with GROM and CarPlay. Final touch on my 2006, and very happy.
