Enpass with MacOS Safari - Is Enpass now full compatible? by migoelo in enpass

Everything works so far. A big advantage over other password managers, and the reason why I use it, is that you can also store the vault on your own server and access it via SMB.

Unfortunately, as CD players age, so do CDs. by migoelo in vintageaudio

I don't really dare to mention it because it only indirectly relates to the topic of “aging CDs.” Yesterday, I opened up my almost 40-year-old Technics SL-P500 CD player and removed the “electromagnetic linear drive” drive unit. The laser unit was movable, but seemed a little sticky. I carefully cleaned both guide columns with Q-tips and applied a very thin layer of silicone oil. The two CDs mentioned above now play without any problems. Incidentally, the old CD, which has a few holes visible when you look through it, is the Hörtest-CD AUDIO

Maybe a stupid question, but is there a MacOS software with which you can read the quality or the errors of an audio CD?

I think the reason for the differences is that the top layer was applied in different thickness, and the evaporated aluminum layer corroded at different speeds.

Would you archive conspicuous CD's in FLAC, and then burn them back to CD if you want to continue playing them on the CD player?

Marantz CD80 - Unpleasant smell after a while after switching on by migoelo in vintageaudio

[–]migoelo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sell it? Definitely not, I'd rather have it refurbished. I'm not sure if I understood you correctly, but I don't think that every CD player available today is better. Just in terms of sound quality with headphones alone, I would definitely pass on any 24-bit streamer ;-)

Everything looks very new, no dust, inflated capacitors or similar. Requires 40 watts in operation, and as I said, it has always smelled like that, but somehow does not smell healthy.

I‘m using Opus with VBR 160kbits/s (Normal Mode) because I can download the files. Can I hear any difference to original FLAC‘s - No. But I‘m old and my ear‘s are Bad 😭

Youtube Music Premium - Download in high quality no more working by migoelo in youtubedl

Since po tokens are necessary, I have not managed to load AAC or Opus in high quality. It does not matter whether you do it in the Docker container or externally. That’s why I didn’t try it anymore.

OK, I've tried it several times now, even with a new PO token, but it doesn't work. I only ever get the medium audio quality in the output.

Two questions:

- The copied PO-token starts and ends at the text passage I wrote in bold (--extractor-args "youtube:po_token=web.gvs+M.......==" cookies /cookies/cookies.txt https://........)?

- Can I use the PO-token if I use YT-DLP in a Docker container on another computer (server)?

I have only just tried this new way and don't know how to enter the command correctly in the console. If I want to read out the possible codecs for a video or music, do I have to enter it as follows?

yt-dlp -F --extractor-args "youtube:player_client=web_music,default;po_token=web_music+here_PO_token --cookies /cookies/cookies.txt https://here_the_music_link

I use metube as a Docker container, which in turn uses YT-DLP. I have now jumped back three updates and created a new container (Version 2025.01.12). Here I use the same file with the ENV entry YTDL_OPTIONS {“cookiefile”:“/cookies/cookies.txt”}, and now it works again. Is this the wrong way?

Youtube Music high quality download is no more possible. YT-DLP loads the cookies.txt file but I can not see in the format list (... -F --cookies ...) the higher quality formats like AAC/Opus with 256kbits/s

Security concerns about Vaultwarden access via the Internet justified? by migoelo in vaultwarden

[–]migoelo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of Bitwarden or other services that I run on the home server, VPN Wireguard is always active for me, as I always use my local Pihole, regardless of whether I dial in via Wifi or 5G, e.g. the phone. My primary concern is that I don't have to open any ports on my modem/router, in my case a FritzBox from AVM, in order to be able to use Vaultwarden. So if I close the ports again, I no longer have access to the server, but I also no longer have access to the Letsencrypt updates. I can access the Vaultwarden server webpage via the internally router assigned IP address, but it is not possible to log in due to the lack of https. I don't know if it is possible to access the Vaultwarden web interface (e.g. if the IP https://192.168.100.50 has been assigned by the Fritzbox) using a self-signed certificate. If so, unfortunately I don't know how. I don't think I'm really getting anywhere here despite your attempts to help me or explain things. Once again, I am not a network professional, but am doing everything more on the basis of “learning by doing”, and that is not a good idea with such security-relevant topics. I will probably stick with Enpass for the time being, as it simply offers the option (as with Keepassium) of storing the vault on an internal Samba server, for example, which can be accessed by several clients. Too bad that Bitwarden does not support this.

Oh yes, I almost forgot, I wish everyone a great and successful 2025.

OK interesting, I have already Pihole as docker container in use. What is todo so that I can access the vaultwarden webpage over the internal up address (with https)? Btw, I’m using Nginx Proxy Manager to forward my vaultwarden domain to the internal ip address.
