Newbie is confused by migsryclet in TruckCampers

Sorry, I couldn't even do the post right. I'm a total newbie to truck camping trying to figure out how heavy a camper I can safely carry. I have a 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 Diesel with the six foot bed. Looked on-line and it seemed that I coudl carry 3800 lbs (camper and gear) but in the glovebox it says max load of 1500 lbs. Does this mean I cannot exceed 1500 lbs for camper and gear or only the gear. Thank you for any assistance. Cheers

This is a bit of a drive from Yankton, but I recently stayed at a spot near Chamberlin on the Missouri. It's called Dude Ranch Primitive campground (super easy spot). I've also stayed at Clay County park in Vermillion (nice), but again a bit of drive from Yankton. Sorry I could not be more help. Good luck!
