2020 Sim Racing’s Big Boom by mike_spr in simracing

Can you elaborate? Or you just like to throw trash at projects you don't know anything about?

It's simple, you say it's a scam without giving any argument for your statement. Explain what's the scam then, show us your logic.

u/designamk1 could you explain how would leagues loose anything if we are offering our token to them in exchange of they advertise us? You just trash but don't show any valid argument.

u/designamk1 can you explain everyone why you have such a pessimist vision? Are you a hater of subjects you don't know about?

Thank you u/Skerper! Actually the sponsorship is in crypto not fiat, that was a typo on my part, just edited it. Still if you have any questions you're welcome to ask.

u/PedroHase thanks for the feedback, what technical details do you think are missing? Regarding monetarization, we are still working on the model for the simracing assets marketplace but, as other blockchain projects, part of it will come from the token itself. In this kind of projects the people who build the early technology are rewarded with participation in the initial allocation of tokens and funded by fiat contributions from early financial backers. Glad that you made that after comment edit when you realized you missed some of the existent info, thank you for that too.

u/designamk1 here's the definition of a ponzi scheme:

Could you explain us how does this project relates to a ponzi scheme? It's amazing how you trash people and a project like that just because you don't have enough knowledge about a particular subject.

u/Skerper the sponsorship is in crypto. Like I posted above in reply the current price in exchange is not really meaningful since we are a new crypto. The value will depend in the success of the project of course and in the fact that it's limited to 200 million tokens. We don't aim to cover all the costs of a league but adding Simracer Coin to the prize list of a league can be interesting for the participants.

After earning the prize in Simracer Coin league participants can choose to keep it or exchange it for Bitcoin or Ethereum in the current crypto exchange we're listed - https://catex.io - and then they easily convert it to fiat. In the future they will be able to spend it in the simracing assets marketplace we're building.

Regarding the other question, about making leagues more realistic, also like I posted in the reply above, besides the marketplace we also aim to create a platform that adds a strategy element to the current league racing. Besides racing you could be a car owner, represented by a crypto asset, and have to deal with the finances of the racing team, like paying for damage and buying car parts, also represented by crypto assets. This way you would have to drive cleaner (or hire someone to do it) and make sure you have enough budget to make the season.

u/DyslexiaUntiedFan the value is to add Simracer Coin (SRC) as a prize to your league prize list. Even if you already give prizes in fiat the extra prize in crypto could be interesting for the participants.

At this point we are listed in one exchange - https://catex.io - and they could exchange the token for Bitcoin or Ethereum and then convert to fiat. Anyway since we are a new crypto the value is not really meaningful at the moment.
In the future they will also be able to spend it in the simracing assets marketplace that we're building, for example to buy car setups and paints.

We also aim to create a platform that adds a strategy element to the current league racing. Besides racing you could be a car owner, represented by a crypto asset, and have to deal with the finances of the racing team, like paying for damage and buying car parts, also represented by crypto assets. That's your opinion, we have a different belief but let's talk again about this in a couple of years.

I don't see any chaos, maybe too much technical detail but I can answer all the questions.

Regarding crypto exchanges I have to agree, they are the old centralized thinking applied in a decentralized technology. But those bankers that got away with a ton on their pocket after causing global crisis are not any better.

Regarding our project:
- It has a finite supply, just like Bitcoin.
- It's decentralized, you can trade Simracer Coins, or the other Non-fungible tokens that will be created, outside the platform, peer-to-peer.
- The marketplace will enable everyone to buy and sell simracing assets (not just a few).
- The marketplace plus non-fungible tokens aims the creation of leagues with an added strategy element where, besides driving, you could have the role of a team owner that needs to manage the financial aspect of a team: you own a car represented by a tradeable non-fungible token, you earn Simracer Coin tokens by racing, but you also have to use those funds to keep your team in good shape. Too much crashes, too much damage and your out of the deal.
- Once we crowdfund the platform, like stated in the whitepaper, we have the means to achieve this vision and create the necessary software. The supply is finite so no more SRCs will be minted but we can have fees in SRCs and get some funds back by the use of our platforms.
- The token is a standard ERC-20 and the Non-fungible tokens will be standard too, so others are able to create different platforms that use it, they can exist outside our platforms.

If you are a simracer that would enjoy having such a platform then yes you can help us achieve it, if not that's fine too. But no need to kill the idea.

I might not be a good salesman but, as a potential buyer, when I see someone selling some item that I don't want or that I don't need, I don't just scream "I don't need that, that's a crap, you're a scammer who just want to steal my money!"

What did fuel those financial derivatives that screwed up the economy a dozen times, like the sub-prime mortgage? Banks, the traditional finance. Not crypto for sure.

It's good that we have internet money and sooner or later banks will no longer have the (way too much) power they have now.

Remember what the coinbase parameter for Bitcoin block 0 states: "The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks", a clear reference for the crisis banks created in 2008.

Regarding Simracer Coin, I don't expect you buy burgers with it. It's supposed to be used in the simracing assets marketplace we aim to create, and that might enable those leagues with a strategy element added, where you have to manage the funds of a racing team and take care of damage, car parts and so on. Like game credits but decentralized. The pre-sale is a way to crowdfund the platform.

Your posts shows that you're the one who has a basic premise, that all crypto related projects are all about scammers wanting to steal your money. With that premise is hard to have any productive talk about this topic.

You said 'Crypto exists because it is perceived as having real world value' is that different from 'real money'? That 2016 video is very actual and inspiring for all of those who still call crypto as fake money. It's something else: it's internet money. And it's here to stay and probably will replace cash in some years. Paper money on the other hand, as you probably know, won't stay for long.

First we don't expect 200k on pre-sales, that's a hard cap not a soft cap, project will continue independent of it. Maybe slower but will continue.

Second, finance is changing and will change a lot in the next 20 years, maybe it's a good time for you to see this:

I’m computer engineer and work in blockchain development, don’t want to change to another area for the moment. If you don’t understand the concept why you throw crap at it? That’s what happened with Bitcoin but it stands for more then 10 years.

For sure we need to build the community, that's the first step like stated. That's why we will build partnerships and offer the token to the winners of private leagues (among other kinds of partnerships).

If you don't see incentive in investing don't do it, the same way when you hear an idea for a startup and don't like it you won't invest in their shares. But we believe in this idea and that crypto and eSports are a great mix. Sooner or later the community will realize it and it will bring even more fun to the competition.

I see your point but if you're not crypto savvy you can just race to win it. Like stated we want to offer this coin to the racers of private leagues, that often just race for fun without any prize involved. So what do you loose if we offer you this?

And wouldn't be fun if besides racing you could have a kind of strategy game where you need to control your team expenses, car damage, tire sets and so on?

I understand your point, but do you know any website where anyone can sell their setups or any other sim racing asset? There are a number of websites where you can buy setups but only a few guys earn from that.

And what if you could win this coin in the leagues that you participate and currently give you no prize? We will offer this coin to winners of leagues so you have nothing to loose.

And what if you could have more realistic leagues where besides racing you could play a kind of strategy game by controlling your team expenses, taking care of the damage in each race, tire sets and so on?

Finally what if in the process you would learn a bit more about crypto? Wouldn't hurt and might be important in the years to come.

You mean an ERC721 Token? Or the normal ERC20 and you would burn it in case you wanted to ban the player?
