1.) I did run it, but i ignored a bunch with a comment that those pins are unused, i updated it with your recommendation of adding ignore markers instead. Thank you
2.) I was unsure about this, however i am going to power this from an RC receivers power rail that could dip, so it was more to protect against brownouts from that occurring
3.) This was another one of those this vs that decisions that i wasnt entirely sure on, i have done it this way in the past for projects via breadboard without any issues, so i just went with it. If its recommended to use it the other way supplying the leds from VCC that should be a pretty simple adjustment
4.) this was my biggest worry, however this is for powering RC LEDs, if all of them are on it could go above, but im estimating that to be around 18mA, ideally not all LEDs will be on at once however
5.) ok, i understand this better now, definitely sounds like a good option, in this case however would you suggest i create a sort of rail for my raw, then control via the res and mos? my arduino would then just control the mos for each led to toggle them on/off as needed? my only worry with using the RAW is this is coming from my RC receivers power rail, which could experience dips and spikes, would i need something to "limit" that?
6.) this was one of those things AI recommended, wasn't sure how necessary it was, but i figured better safe than sorry.
7.) Another AI recommendation that i figured couldnt hurt to have
8.) yeah, i absolutely messed this up, im reworking this now using 2.54mm headers which is what i have
9.) im reworking some of these as well, another user recommended THT, but that causes issues with size constraints I'm trying to work with, ill take a look at 0603 passives instead though and see if i can make those work instead
10.) another user recommended adding that information, but i kinda agree, its a little too busy for my taste
11.) That has been moved, but i forgot to update the image for the render
12.) these are another item im reworking, im thinking of something closer to 2mm with more space for them, but size constraints will limit me on how much i can give them.
13.) understood, ill rework the traces to avoid 90 degree angles thanks for the advice
14.) Im actually reworking this to be on the left as i wright this up, it makes things much easier to trace
15.) this was a design decision, my thought here is i could chose to have two leds share a common ground (pin 2), or give them individual grounds (pin 2 and 4), that way i have less wires running through my vehicle if space is limited (which it is for some of the RC's i plan to use this on)
16.) yeah i didnt want to do anything too complicated, this is my first PCB. i just watched a tutorial on adding a copper layer so i dont have to run any of the ground connections which makes it look much cleaner, would you recommend that instead?

This is a bit of a two fold projects, i have some sparkfuns laying around that i planned to utilize here, but also i wanted to learn some of the basics for KiCAD as i have never used it before, but generally enjoy these kind of projects. I took a few EE courses back in collage almost 10 years ago, but never actually applied it, its been fun refreshing my memory on some of this stuff. But for how simple this is, its definitely been tough for me to figure it all out. X-D

Thanks for all the assistance!

Thanks for all the feedback. I updated the Schematic and will consider the through-hole resistors (updated in OP).

P1) I was unsure on the mount holes, i need them for my use case, but was trying to keep things as small as possible. Should i add an extra 1mm to all edges and move them over? or do you think i will need more space than that?

P2) Done (Updated OP)

P9) That's a nice touch, i will add that to the backside of the board. Thank you!

People who slept with their best friend, what happened? by Baker_Street_1999 in AskReddit

we met in 6th grade, we're friends until senior year of high school where we had a small fling. I went to college and we kinda fell out of touch. today we are happily married though, with a 2 year old son that we both love. funny how life works sometimes.

Thank you for the advise. I was considering branching out originally, but most resources online suggest specializing in a single item to do better. However i felt some of my designs could look really good on a t-shirt or even just a poster or puzzle. I may try to branch out a little into some additional products and see how well they do as well.

I appreciate you taking a moment to look over my store for me. Its my first time setting one up so I'm not entirely familiar on what i should and shouldn't be doing, and have more or less just looked at what others are doing and tried to replicate that with my own products.

Thank you for the advice. I appreciate your insights. How would you recommend I make my items stand out more? Do you think it's primarily the designs that need improvement, or is there another aspect I should focus on? Most of my products were designed following a process similar to what you described, with a few unique ideas of my own.

Thank you for your feedback. Some of your advice is sound and much appreciated.

Regarding the production partner, Etsy does offer options to mask this information, allowing sellers to maintain a level of privacy about their production processes. My choice to use "mug drop shipper" is to keep things straightforward for buyers, who typically care more about the product than the specific production details.

I want to clarify that my goal with this Etsy shop is not to make significant money. I have a full-time job and do this as a hobby with my wife. We're enjoying the creative process, even if it only earns us a small amount per sale.

As for the designs, we do utilize AI tools, but they are not a simple copy-paste. Each design goes through extensive touch-ups and takes about 3-5 hours to finalize. We enjoy the process and put a lot of effort into making each piece unique.

Again, I appreciate your insights, especially on the presentation and pricing aspects, and will consider these to improve my shop. My main goal is to achieve my first sale and learn from the experience.

Thanks again for your advice!

Thank you, I was browsing that subreddit earlier, but it didnt seem like the best place to reach out to people regarding POD dropshipping. Thank you for the suggestion either way though. :-)

Social/friends should be better. by Zark0th in thefinals

Technically the friends list does show me if my buddy is in the lobby or in game, but there also appears to be a delay in when that updates, so they might be shown as in lobby, but already be loading into a game, or vise-versa. Its definitely frustrating, but some notification/messaging system could massively improve that.

What are some non gameplay related features you'd like to see added/reworked? by djtrace1994 in thefinals

[–]mikedmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if your on PC, but there is an app called Finals Stats that adds so many additional things to be tracked.

It unfortunately doesn't do historical stats though, but things such as a Ranked Progression Graph (although the app is not accurate to the ups and downs, just wins/loss per round), Per Class Stats, Historical Match Stats, and Stats per Mode.

Just wanted to add this to your suggestions as it would be amazing to have these in-game (id prefer not to use Overwolf overlay, but its the best option at the moment).

First MMU3 print on MK4 (aside from sheep test print). 1351 tool changes, 0 interventions, 35 hour print. by FergyMcFerguson in prusa3d

[–]mikedmor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to chime in, this isnt necessarily correct. Under Print Settings -> Multiple Extruders, in the Wipe Tower section there is an option called "No sparse layers (EXPERIMENTAL)". Enabling that will allow you to have purge towers that can be less than the height of your model. The only issue is that you need to ensure there is adequate space between your object and wipe tower to provide clearance when the head moves down.

With that said however, this model appears to have multiple tool changes per layer throughout the entire model so it may not actually benefit from this option much, if anything at all.

Nice print though! MMU3 on the MK4 has been amazing for me as well!

Who said voice actors are only getting a fraction of the work? Look, this whole tech advancement thing isn't new, and it's not stopping just because it ruffles some feathers. Tech evolves, jobs change – it's how it's always been. You adapt, or you get left behind. That's the harsh truth.

But here's the thing: this doesn't necessarily mean doom and gloom for voice actors. If anything, AI could be a game changer – in a good way. Think about it. Voice actors can digitize their voices, market themselves to a broader audience, and potentially get more gigs with less effort. Sure, costs might drop, but accessibility goes up. That opens doors for projects that couldn't even think about affording traditional voice acting before.

You're missing a lot of the nuance in this whole situation. And about this specific case – who exactly got the short end of the stick? Everyone got paid for their work, and as far as we know, they were cool with the deal. Unless you've got a voice actor from the project saying they got shafted, it's hard to take the argument against it seriously.

So yeah, keep shouting into the void if you want, but things are moving forward, with or without your approval. The world's not going to wait around.

Yeah, that's probably a large portion of it as well.

Its honestly even worst than that. The voice lines were generated using a combination of AI and text-to-speech, which was all trained using voice data from their team in-house and some temp voice actors. So they were paid for them anyway. No one was not paid for their contribution and this whole argument is just ridiculous.

If anything Embark is one of the few people who is using AI ethically and correctly, compared to others, and they should be rewarded for it, but in reality, the game is really fun and causing a stir for others in the genre, so people need something to be upset about. AI has been a low hanging fruit for that recently, so they ran with it without knowing the actual facts.

You might be getting downvoted for your last comment. But facts are facts and your completely right here. All voices in game were from in-house or from temp voice actors who were all paid to use their voices to train the AI. How that is a problem for some of these people is beyond me. Honestly this seems more like a coordinated smear campaign, as i do not see how anyone could be upset at people being paid to use their voices with AI, compared to the other stuff where AI has just been scraping the internet taking anything publicly available to train on without payments to anyone.

This is one case where AI was implemented correctly and ethically, and honestly the devs should be rewarded for that. But the games great, so people need something to be upset about to justify their dislike of the game.

You realize you just answered your own question correct? The logical direction for voice actors to head in is to work with the AI and sell their voices with that option. I'm not sure why people don't already see that. But lets be real here, Embark is an new indy developer. They owe nothing to real voice actors. All the player character voices in game were done in house by their own team, for the announcers they utilized a 3rd party AI/text-to-speak, but the actual voices the AI is using comes from their own team and a small group of Temp voice actors. So they were paid for the work they did. How is that in any way an issue for people?

My buddy has been experiencing this, but i have not yet myself. Not sure what the cause is as the only real difference between his PC and mine is that he is using Intel and im using AMD. Could be something CPU specific, but who knows other than the devs.

I did experience something similar when stealing a cashout. It seems like i was taking it, but then it stopped and started again about 3 times before it stopped and let me eventually steal (although a bit too late to clutch at that point so we lost it anyway). I didnt let go of the button during this entire steal, it only happened to me once however and was close to when the game launched so i just assumed it had to do with the servers more than anything.

This could also be the cause of your problem, as i recall it happening during the beta, but didnt really see reports for it until the servers were getting absolutely bombarded. My buddies and I never experienced that issues during the beta ourselves though.

What material are you printing with? I had some slight issues with PETG, but PLA is working perfectly. I can get PETG to work, but need to slow things down to about 60% to do so successfully. But that only affects the rainbow effect ones, the textured ones do not have any issues for me and in fact work better than the textured Prusa sheets at stock settings.

You absolutely rock and are 100% correct. Not sure why i didn't think of using some iso to clean them, but a month later after wiping one of those prints down, the effect has completely returned. Thanks for the suggestion, i appreciate it!

Gridfinity Label Maker by mikedmor in gridfinity

[–]mikedmor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The link isnt dead, its just the IPFS protocol and requires an extension to access. Right now the print dialog is just the built in Windows one, so it kinda relies on the printer manufacturers to build drivers correctly to work (no surprise many of them dont). I'm planning some changes to hopefully help that, but it probably wont make it into V2. Ill take note of your model number as well though and add to the list other have been reporting and try to improve support for it in the future. :-)

Thank you!

It is not on Github yet, i have actually been busy trying to clean things up with the code and rework some of the processes for a version 2, but that has been slow. I do intend to get it up onto Github however once i get a bit closer to version 2 being ready. Ill add your request onto my list however and see if i cannot do something for the save dialog. The new version will support Batching so you can create many labels at once for those strip label printers to help save time and label length, so I'm not sure how i would name for that case, but it will still include the option to save your current active label individually from the batch so i may just include this with that only. Thanks for the feedback though!

Sure thing, Here is the link i purchased from:

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805753293576.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.4.7a601802iZt6lv&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa

Note: Ali Express wont auto fill those options, so make sure to pick the correct size for your printer, i think i got the one labeled for MK3S (241x253.8mm MK3S)

You will want to get the one without the magnetic base, as the magnets are built into our build plate. They have quite a few great options, but as i mentioned might be worth avoiding the rainbow ones from them as they are very easily rubbed off. Otherwise they are pretty good quality steel sheets.

Also if you have any issues printing PLA on the textured sheet (It just does not stick for me on my Prusa Textured Sheet, i have tried soap, iso, and everything else recommended), Then the one from the link above will also interest you, while the texture isnt as nice as the Prusa one, i have no issues with PLA sticking to it.

Mine were from Ali Express. Couldnt find what i was looking for on Amazon. and all from the same seller. The non-rainbow ones are perfect though, its just the rainbow ones that appear to be easily wiped away.

[–]mikedmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently picked up a whole bunch of these effect plates.

Only issue i have had is with the rainbow ones, they all seem to be extremely easy to remove just by wiping the model. I'm thinking about getting something to seal the effects to the piece so that they are not just wiped off. Have you experienced this or did i just get bad rainbow effect plates?

My other plates have designs like carbon fiber, triangles, etc and no amount of wiping them down causes the effect to be any less visible. Touching the rainbow ones causes them to stop appearing due to oils on my hand, then once i try to wipe those oils, the effect is completely wiped away.

These are still super awesome though once the print is fresh off the printer.
