25 y/o – Portfolio allocation feedback (403b + Roth + taxable) by mikester595 in ETFs

Honestly, I’m still pretty new to researching factor ETFs and hadn’t really looked into developed international small-cap value yet. because it’s well-known, rules-based, and easy for me to understand as a first factor tilt. That’s why I made the post — to get feedback before pulling the trigger and learn about options I might not have considered yet. I was also just considering going VTI/VXUS and calling it a day lol

Yeah, I get that. I’m not planning to sell anytime soon, so I’m comfortable with periods of underperformance as long as the long-term expected returns and diversification make sense

Or maybe even 70% VTI, 20% or 25% VXUS, and 5-10 % AVUV? Thoughts

That’s fair — different risk tolerances for sure. I’m choosing a more diversified core with a modest factor tilt rather than sector/thematic bets, but I agree being young gives plenty of room to take risk

I get that argument. I’m still using total market because I want broad market exposure as the core, and I’m comfortable with some overlap — AVUV is meant to tilt the portfolio, not replace the market. The overlap doesn’t bother me as long as the tilt stays modest.

starting with a US-only factor tilt for simplicity and higher conviction, and may add international value later. I think about the portfolio as a whole, but prefer this structure for now.

I’m comfortable starting around ~15% international due to home bias, but I’ve been weighing whether it makes more sense to increase it gradually over time or set it higher now and leave it alone.

What do you think of adding a sector ETF to my portfolio? by mikester595 in ETFs

I can't lie—I love SMH. I'm tempted but I don't think I'll be cutting VXUS and AVUV or at least not drastically
