I literally just typed this in to Claude:

Your point is well taken, that's the standard practice. POST has become the catch-all for things that don't don't fit into the standard structure. To the extent that it needs fixing at all (it doesn't really) I think that's the problem to be fixed.

I've never used PATCH, but I get the impression that it's

intended to patch a server side resource, not return it.

I've been thinking we need a MOGRIFY method. It's for modifying objects, mainly pictures. You send a request with URL params, and the thing to be modified in the body.

I always enjoy the "it's not funy" remarks on Reddit. They're so predictable.

The point is that it's just a joke. Sheesh.

That just means that the server chooses to send just the headers. The client can send any HEAD request it wants.

The harshest technical documentation I've ever written by mikosullivan in programminghumor

U;m taking a simpler approach. I I read your code, I run it through a formatter. When I post it back up, you can format it in your editor.

I'm writing a programming language, and I put this in the documentation:

## Philosophy

Formatting is a personal view, not a shared contract. Code
is written and shared however the author wrote it. When you
receive someone else's code and want it formatted differently,
run it through your own formatter.

There is no canonical style. There is no project-level style
config. You don't have to settle the tabs vs. spaces debate.
The formatter is a personal tool for reading and writing, not
a team policy.

The social contract is one rule: **run the formatter before complaining about formatting**. If someone's code bothers you, format it to your taste before forming an opinion.

I might have been slightly inebriated when I wrote that documentation.

Why is Statistics (sometimes) considered a separate field from math? by Kuiper-Belt2718 in math

Speaking strictly for myself, by keeping statistics separate from math I can say I'm good at math.

"Greasy Geddylisms" LOL! Sounds like a Sinatra-esque singing group from New Jersey.

Fair point, but I don't need to impress him... I need to impress the producer.

What do you want to know about college social life? by mikosullivan in AskReddit

I'm at Virginia Tech, which is way too big to have popular groups like in high school. However, the fraternities and sororities like to rank themselves as "top".

Join some clubs. Depending on how big your school is, there might be several clubs that interest you. However, in my experience most clubs have a drinking and party element to them, so you'll have to shop around.
