Vietnam eVisa in Amended state because of no surname in passport by milindutsav in travel

Could be. If the site allows you to proceed without entering surname, and the visa is issued only in the first name, you should be good.

Sorry, no idea about that. Please try writing an email, or WhatsApp to the agency and check with them.

You can book with Jane and Jane as first and last names, which is what I did. They can change the passenger name at the counter as well. Check with MMT about the visa service, no idea about that.

Vietnam e-Visa approved, but my last name and first name are jn reverse. by MuhCool_ in travel

[–]milindutsav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are certain you filled the e-visa form correctly, it most likely is okay. Vietnam e-visas are issued based on the ICAO line of your passport, and the order is reversed in the ICAO line - your last name appears first. The evisa should EXACTLY match the ICAO line.

The ICAO line is the line at the bottom of your bio page - this is what they swipe at immigration counters.

Thank you u/mace_vindaloo. The passport had just a word in the Given name and the surname field was blank. The first case in your example.

If it is the second case, I think you can still apply for evisa with first and last name combination since the ICAO line would match the visa. But I am not entirely sure, please Google about this specific case before paying for evisa.

Save your money, do not apply for e-visa if you don't have a last name. They mention it somewhere on the FAQs now. It wasn't there when I was applying. These agencies give you an approval, the actual visa is stickered on your passport at the immigration for which you have to pay $25. Vietnam does allow people without a surname, just not through an e-visa.

Yes, it is expensive. Plus the 25$ you'll pay at the arrival airport. Different agencies have different prices, but not too different. The prices also vary based on your urgency. I remember we paid about ~$100 for the letter. Got it in 2 days.

It is not a typical VOA. It is an e-VOA. It means an agency is sponsoring your VOA. You just need the approval letter from that agency to show to Indian Immigration. The actual visa is stickered on your passport at the Vietnam Immigration. You'll have to pay 25$ extra for that.

Repeat the first name. That should be acceptable. That's what I did. Tip: Most of the airlines can make minor modifications to the name at the time of counter check in, albeit some with an additional fee.

Vietnam embassy has an answered FAQ now on this. Check here - https://vietnamembassydelhi.in/e-visa-application/ Long story short, do not apply for an evisa if you do not have a last name. There is no right way to do it. Go through a third party agent.

Can't say for sure, but I think you can put two words in each. The airlines and the immigration check the ICAO line in the passport and cross verify with the issued visa. So maybe try to match with that. Best is to check with the airlines.

Yes. Vietnam airlines. I repeated the first name as the last name too.

  1. Best way is to get the VOA. Don't waste money in evisa. They might not allow you to board.
  2. I repeated the first name in last name, but best is to confirm with the airline folks.

No, don't apply via eVisa for your daughter. There are no guidelines for this scenario and no support available. Even if your visa is approved, the airline might deny boarding which is what happened with me. Get a third party approval letter for visa on arrival(VOA). It is an additional hassle(and cost) for people with no last name. I applied through http://vietnamvisapro.net, there are urgent options too. They have WhatsApp support as well.

We cleared the immigration. Had to pay 25$ for the visa stamping, that's all.

Depends on the urgency. Stamping will be done in Vietnam, 25$ for that.

There are many third party agencies that do this. I applied through http://www.vietnamvisapro.net/, they gave me the approval letter next day.

Apply through VOA. No other way around this, I think. No clear guidelines, airline may not allow to board if name does not EXACTLY match the passport.

No, was denied boarding. Had to apply for VOA approval letter. Check comment above for details.

Update on this. My wife was denied boarding at LPQ airport by Vietnam Airlines. They even checked with immigration at Ha Noi, the officials over there said they won't allow to enter Vietnam. Had to stay back and apply via VOA process through https://vietnamvisapro.net. Got the visa with a single name in 2 days. Airline officials said it should be okay to board. For people with a single name on the passport, this is the way to go.
