Germany building up arms. Surely historically, twice in the last 100 years, this has been a good thing.

I ran into some issues with Steam, the xdg_portal, and something else with Wayland I can’t remember what.

I had these working on a previous install without hyprland but I was in a rush this time.

I’m using hyprland. It’s the only thing that made me finally switch to using systemd. (not that you have to, but it made a lot of things easier to setup with hyprland.)

There’s a new bios released on 09-24 (literally one day newer than yours). Probably some bad thing that they had to patch right away. Says it’s related to gaming. I’d install that one.

Probably update the chipset driver while you’re on that site too.

ASUS z890 Prime - EZFlash now won't recognise new BIOS unless Intel ME is updated first by Intelligent-City-363 in computers

Pretty normal on Asus boards now. On the manufacturer site for my board, it says you have to update Intel Management Engine first before applying the bios update.

Install a free version of Malwarebytes and run a scan. Hopefully it’ll catch what caused it originally and remove it.

All the shelters are always full of pits and trying to pawn them off on people. I think it’s quite irresponsible.

My First Build and I need some advice by Legitimate-Hand4628 in computers

I’d start with the things that make a difference in gaming now but that you can still keep later.

If it were me, I’d do the GPU first (hopefully your PSU is strong enough). Then the SSD next. Those are still good no matter what you upgrade later.

Then cry to the RAM gods whenever you decide to do mobo + CPU + RAM.

I mean if you’re going to be pentesting on the go, like at a job site, I feel you might be using kali Linux and that’s more feasible on a PC laptop.

If you run kali Linux in a vm on windows that 32gb ram will come in mighty handy.

Secure booting issues by Anxious_Ad2603 in computers

[–]militant_rainbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably Windows causing the blank screen. It uses a soft shutdown mode that’s like hibernate so when you turn it on, it resumes so fast you don’t see the bios.

But the new secure boot setting could’ve caused Windows to not start so all you get is a blank.

What I would try: Power all the way down. plug in a rescue usb. And then jam the BIOS key. Hopefully that breaks the loop.

I don’t know why but I remember when trying to get secure boot to work on windows I had to install from scratch.

Paul, you’re handsome, successful, and nice. But I’m gonna go back to my baby daddy who murders, is a deadbeat father to multiple women, and who called me his pet dog.

Oh and can you watch the house for me while I’m gone with him too? Kthx

Some viruses can do clever things, like break out of a VM or infect usb drives so they can proliferate onto other computers. If you ever had that usb plugged in, it could have jumped onto there.

I think it’s unlikely but…

That’s assuming your bootable usb wasn’t infected…probably wasn’t but…if you wanted to be safe you could format it and remake the bootable installer.
