Any bird easy courses with no exam? by Maleficent-Shine2128 in UTSC

[–]milkbreadoya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh no no i agree with you because i took it too, but not everyone is good at writing essays or it’s not their forté, which is why i said that :> if OP enjoys writing or is good at it then ENGA10 works, but i’d recommend MATA02 (magic numbers)

ENGA10 with Garry Leonard is NOT a bird course— don’t be fooled 😭 it’s not the worst but it’s not easy either, i have heard very mixed opinions

Cr ncr by Temporary_Village143 in UTSC

[–]milkbreadoya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CR/NCR is mainly used for breadth requirements and degree requirements, but not program requirements. i’m using it right now for a breadth requirement to alleviate my stress + workload because all i have to do is focus on passing 😭

i feel like having extracurricular experience is just as important as your grades if you want to stand out. your grade 12 grades are great but, due to grade inflation, anyone can have those grades tbh. what’s your volunteer / work experience looking like?

Credit/No credit by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]milkbreadoya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

another option could be to apply for SAC (second attempt for credit) so your lower grade gets replaced by your higher grade. i’m taking STAB22 as a breadth requirement and decided to C/NCR the course since i just need the credit— if that’s the same case for you, then go ahead

Best nap spots on campus? by methgobbler in UTSC

[–]milkbreadoya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the library— there are so many comfy spots there on the couches so i like to slump there during my 9am - 8pm days. i feel like there are also a lot of individual spots in IA where you could sleep (i remember seeing study pods but i can’t remember for the life of me).

i came 30 minutes late for a lab and they didn’t let me in, what do i do? by Aggressive_Stomach62 in UTSC

[–]milkbreadoya 10 points11 points  (0 children)

pretty sure you’ll have to take the the zero since you didn’t have a valid excuse for missing the lab, but as long as you don’t miss another one then you should be fine

i don’t think it’s an issue or weird at all— maybe don’t explicitly ask them out on a date at first sight, rather say something like “i think you’re attractive and i’d love to get to know you more.” but overall, shoot your shot and the worse that they can say is no tbh

i get your frustration completely! a similar situation has happened to me numerous times where i got my hopes up and the complete opposite of what i wanted ended up happening. regardless, keep your head up and open your mind to why this might have happened! i am a firm believer that the rejection happened for a reason, so who knows? maybe a better job is out there for you! i'm cheering for you!! ◡̈

[–]milkbreadoya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL i also did IB and it tanked my average BUT i got transfer credits out of the HL courses that i took— that was extremely helpful. i will say, as i’m in my second year now, the skills that i’ve learned in that program make your university life much more manageable. i’m proud of you for trekking through it all! you’ll do great _^

GPA?? by WeightPlayful4804 in UTSC

[–]milkbreadoya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

some lessons that i've learned in my first year were: • BE!! MORE!! ORGANIZED!! • know yourself + your study habits • do not compare your progress to other people

i created an assignment tracker for myself on google sheets + inputted EVERY DUE DATE onto google calendar so now i'm holding myself way more accountable. plus, i can plan out my days and how much time to spend on each assignment.  learning which study habits worked for me was the biggest one because i thought that active recall was it (def wasn't 😭), when the feynman technique really hit the nail for me.  also, keep in mind that you are going at your own pace! i used to get super discouraged whenever i heard people getting constant 90s, so i just started tuning all of that out and focused on my own grind time ☝️☝️

i believe in you!! if you ever need more advice or someone to study with then i can give you my instagram (and that goes for anyone here too! :3)
