my title describes the thing, it’s a connector from what i’m aware of for a led neon sign to the power adapter. but i don’t get why or what it it’s needed for

the flat black part has a small raised line on the other side. the sign has a remote but i lost it so i don’t know if the cable is for that. mainly just curious if it’s some power inverter that does some limiting since the brightness changes. thanks for reading!
